My journey back to health

My journey back to health

Hey Everyone,?

"A healthy man wants a thousand things, a sick man only wants one." Confucius

Over the last six months, I have repeated this quote often. I’ve been dealing with mold exposure for almost a decade, with my first exposure eight years ago when I was living in Florida. I started having allergies for the first time in my life and didn’t know why; my neighbor told me the previous tenant was breeding Maine Coons (can’t make this stuff up, Florida things, lol), and I’m allergic to cats, so I had an AC guy come to check out the ventilation system. He found no cat hair, but the black toxic mold was growing in the air conditioning handler. I was essentially breathing in the mold for six months. I moved out immediately and removed most of the furniture with mold. Out of nowhere, I developed allergies to wool, down/feathers, and fragrances and had digestive issues stemming from the mold. I have lived with these problems ever since. It was manageable, but honestly, I should have addressed it earlier.

Fast forward to 8 months ago, I decided to address these issues as I was constantly getting sick. I couldn’t eat out without problems and was battling fatigue and brain fog. I found a great functional medicine doctor,?Jordan Crofton, in NYC. She ran a complete panel with blood work. She discovered mold and a few different stomach viruses. Ultimately, I was chronically inflamed and dealing with various auto-immune issues. She put me on a full supplement protocol. I need a separate bag to travel with all the supplements (there are over 30), including NAC, Hist Reset, binders, and multivitamins. I bought the shower head?Vitaclean, water purifier?AquaTru, and air purifier?IQ Air, and went on a low histamine diet at first and then an anti-inflammatory diet. I was starting to experience fewer digestive issues but still had brain fog and fatigue and developed a skin condition called Grover’s Disease. I thought it might be long covid. I ordered a?mold test?based on Jordan’s recommendation, and sure enough, there was mold in the apartment again.??

I moved out of the apartment last week and had to remove everything from my clothes to furniture. I’m still on my supplement protocol, and an anti-inflammatory diet, and I found a clinic?Sanoviv?to help jump-start my road to recovery. I'll be a bit off the grid for two weeks, but I'm excited to share the outcome of this experience.?

I share all this to educate some people on mold and the potential health risks involved. There isn’t a lot of information out there, and I’ve had to cobble together everything on my own and through some friends. I encourage everyone to order a test if they are experiencing any allergies or symptoms or find themselves sick frequently. You can order the one I referenced above, or you can hire someone to come and do an inspection. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out, and I'm happy to help where I can.?

Until next time,?
