My Journey @ Applied Materials India

My Journey @ Applied Materials India

One thing you love about Applied Materials India.?

The work culture at Applied is one thing I love the most. Just after a month of joining Applied as a Senior Electrical Engineer, I was able to have discussions with VPs and directors. I was floored by the way they supported my career path – the values and culture that are fundamental to Applied have resonated with me very deeply. In my day-to-day role, I often interact with many senior colleagues who really respect and encourage the work we do, rather than the position in which we are. This energizes and keeps us motivated. I can see the impact of the work that I do and have done, here at Applied. I can point a direct line from conversations I have had, decisions I have made, to projects that have launched, and new strategies. That’s pretty amazing.

What your career path at Applied Materials India has been and what are the key highlights?

After my Masters and Honours in Power Electronics from Delft University of Technology, I resumed my journey in the semiconductor industry by joining Applied Materials India as a Senior Electrical Engineer. I took initiatives and proactively collaborated with multiple stakeholders in my projects. I was glad to start my managerial journey with only one and a half years of experience at Applied. My career at Applied has been very interesting. I got a chance to lead a few high-profile projects which gave me a lot of visibility globally and has also enabled me to be part of Applied strategy groups and helped me to file a few Intellectual Properties as well.

What has working in Applied Materials India taught you about yourself?

Working in Applied has brought out managerial skills in me. I joined Applied as an individual contributor, but within a span of three years, I am now successfully managing a team of around ten Electro-Mechanical Engineers and driving key projects of Architectural Elements Engineering group. I was one of the very few members of the Architectural Elements Engineering team when I joined Applied (since the team had started recently). I was happy to be on the journey of building this team. We were keen on the attitude and knowledge of the candidates while interviewing. If you ask me 'invest in the right people and guide them towards the goal, rest everything will fall in place'. Now, I am proud to see that the team we've built that is taking care of many complex and futuristic projects.?

One advice for young talent at Applied Materials India.

Stay focused, take initiatives, and be proactive – these can take you to the next level! Put a clear focus on your goals, and then everything is achievable.

What are you most passionate about outside work?

I like to trek, play cricket, football and badminton in my free time.
