Could you share your experience at Aglatech14 and insights on the modern Supply Chain?

I joined Aglatech14 in December 2020, a particularly turbulent time due to the pandemic. Although some time has passed, I still feel somewhat new, which shows the company’s constant dynamism and innovation. My first impression of Aglatech14 was one of great amazement in terms of organization and efficiency: qualities I did not expect to find in a translation agency.

I started as a Language Team Lead, facing the exciting challenge of managing a diverse team and integrating into the company’s processes. It was gratifying to see the team shape up under my guidance, reflecting my vision and leadership.

After a year and a half, I took on the responsibility of the Supply Chain, gaining the opportunity to explore a new area. Managing suppliers, both internal and external, represented another step in my professional growth, offering me a broader perspective on the modern supply chain.

Reflecting on the transformation of the Supply Chain in the translation sector, I notice that it is no longer just about finding translators or interpreters but also involving cross-functional professionals who possess linguistic skills as well as a deep understanding of processes and technology. The current challenge is finding highly specialized professionals with cross-functional skills across multiple sectors.

Today, the challenges for a language service provider like Aglatech14 include finding professionals with a broad range of skills, from technical knowledge to the ability to quickly adapt to industry changes.

Consequently, the role of Vendor Manager in the translation and localization sector has undergone a significant transformation. It is no longer just about contacting and negotiating rates; it now involves embracing the human and relational aspects of the role. The Vendor Manager has become a fundamental point of reference in times of difficulty, offering support and assistance to translators.

The relationship between the Vendor Manager and the translator is becoming an increasingly valuable business asset. Companies that establish trusting and collaborative relationships with their suppliers enjoy a significant competitive advantage. This highlights the importance of investing in supplier relationship management as a fundamental part of business strategy.

In addition to the challenge of finding people with specific profiles, the Vendor Manager must constantly train to adapt to new developments in the sector and the emerging services offered. The Supply Chain is constantly evolving, requiring a continuous commitment to staying updated and acquiring new skills to meet market demands.

I am pleased to note the emergence of training and events dedicated to Vendor Management in the translation and localization sector. These events highlight the importance of the relational side and offer opportunities to develop key skills in managing supplier relationships. This focus on training and professional development helps strengthen the Vendor Community, creating a sense of belonging and collaboration among participants.

The Vendor Community is assuming an increasingly central role in the translation and localization sector, offering an environment where people can share knowledge, experiences, and resources. Being part of an active and collaborative community can be extremely beneficial for Vendor Managers, providing valuable support and resources to face the challenges of the sector.

Finally, the value of interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures not only enriches the social and professional fabric of the Vendor Community but also offers opportunities for learning and growth through the exchange of different viewpoints and approaches.

Any memory you'd like to share?

Two memories come to mind related to Giacomo, our CEO: the time we found ourselves on vacation in Mallorca and went for a drink together at the Hard Rock Café. It made me smile to see him in a completely different context from work and realize that he was exactly the same even outside of it. Then, I remember our one-to-one meetings: I dreaded seeing what new dashboard he had created. He was always full of ideas and initiatives!
