My Journey into Admirable Writing

My Journey into Admirable Writing

Becoming a writer has been a dream I've held since my elementary school days.

I would craft excellent, or so I thought, creative pieces in my English composition assignments and sharpen my English speaking skills in front of small and large audiences.

Though trembling and shy, I faced my public speaking fears by continually taking opportunities to speak in front of people and finally emerged as one of the best speakers in my young class.

I continued writing creative pieces, motivational articles, and lifestyle blogs that I could post in my Facebook 'Notes' section and my free WordPress website.

I was satisfied with the act of giving out pieces of me to the world in the simplest ways possible. I would learn from the on-goings around me and craft pieces I believed were relatable to many.

The continual approvals and exclamations I received every time someone read any of my pieces were enough encouragement to keep me going. With time, my inner man was revived, and I knew I needed to give the world the special gift of art I was depriving it.

Thoughts gave birth to plans, plans to action, and actions to a full-time writer. I started handling all manner of creative content, marketing, sales copy, lifestyle blogs, and informational content in almost any niche.

I discovered myself, and I knew nothing was stopping me now; I had to take the chance and become who I needed to be.

Monetizing my Skills

One way to enjoy what you're doing and stick to it is monetizing it. However much you're passionate about something, if it's taking your time without bringing in money, it'll soon wear you out.

I didn't want my writing to wear me out and become a boring, redundant activity of my life.

I wanted it to be the main part of my life, so I started looking for ways to monetize it.

It wasn't easy, but it was worth the push.

The Learning Phase

A friend introduced me to #Upwork.com and told me how they rewarded skills and talents like those I had.

I was reluctant at first, but I decided to give it a try.

After customizing my Upwork profile, I got approved and headed straight into doing what I love doing the most - writing content that sells.

The journey wasn't as straightforward as I thought. My first contract at Upwork was to bring in $60, and I was to write a 3,000-words article on health products and steps on how one can use them.

Though the topic was somehow easy to tackle, I had no idea about editing and content structuring. I delivered a plagiarised article that was full of grammatical errors!

My work was rejected spot on! It hit me hard that I wasn't as good a writer as I thought. I needed help, and I needed it as soonest as it could come.

I started reading articles and watching tutorial videos; I liaised with other established writers who introduced me to writing tools like Grammarly, Copyscape, Surfer SEO, and more.

I asked. I listened, I learned.

In the end, I started writing better copies, sought approval from the gurus, and made corrections where I needed to.

I was more confident now that besides my good flowing written English, my content writing skills had improved, and I was ready for a paying client.

My First Paying Client

While all this while I had been preparing to get a paying client, I had never actually believed writing could make me earn anything substantial.

However, when I met my first paying client who liked my work and paid for it immediately, my perception changed, and I knew this is what I had wanted all along. I stayed.

Every other client that followed has been a stepping stone towards my growth. The skills I have accumulated today are more because of my clients and my continual desire to learn.

Some of my notable successes as a writer have been with my Upwork clients, as you can see here.

When I completed this task for one of my high-ranking clients, it was a great relief to see how far I had come even to earn such great remarks.

The journey is nowhere near the end; I keep learning, training and seeking new opportunities to get my skills ready for the current market.

My Upwork profile is now booming with positive remarks, and I know some of you can relate to this journey.

Before You Go!

Remember:

The journey is always on; your path is as straight or as crooked as it should be. It is only you who can travel that path and make it out successfully.

So, if you're aspiring to do what you believe you need to do, get your tools ready and face the storm. One after the other, you'll conquer wars and storms you never knew you could.

If you're a client in need of a remarkable, reliable copywriter, blog post writer, SEO content writer, and website content writer, you can always contact me for great copies.
