My "Intro to Obvious" Moment

Ever have a moment when you realize what you've just said to someone is exactly what you need to hear and absorb for yourself? Of course, you have.

It just happened to me. Here's a piece of advice I offered to someone just a few days ago when it was actually meant for me.

It's not in your head, it's in your gut.

Duh.

I realized it was for me as soon as I said it out loud. It's not the first time I've heard or said that advice. Truthfully, I needed to have that conversation on that day with that person for me to finally hear how it applies to me.

Better late than never, as the saying goes. The universe has a sense of humor and I'm still laughing about it.

Here's what landed: my Badassery has been and always been gut-driven with my brain being the co-pilot and second fiddle, not the other way around.

It's true for you, Badass.

Call it your gut, your instinct, or your intuition. The truth is that your Badassery has more impact when you're better able to tap into your "gut" primarily and leverage your natural smarts secondarily, all in service of accomplishing what's in your mind's eye.

Oh sure, we know you're smart. Far be it from me to diminish your gray matter. The reframe for you to consider is that relying on natural smarts alone is like making the same donuts every day, only more efficiently over time. When gut (or instinct) has primacy, that's like making new and more delicious donut recipes every day.

I'd rather have new delicious donuts to choose from than only have the same plain donut over and over again. I'm guessing you might feel the same way.

Instinct helps create and drive influence.
