My Internship Journey at Insulet Corporation.

My Internship Journey at Insulet Corporation.

I can’t believe it has already been two incredible months since I embarked on my Embedded Software Engineer Co-op journey at Insulet Corporation .?

Insulet Corporation is an innovative medical device company dedicated to making the lives of people with diabetes easier through the use of its Omnipod product platform.?

I was assigned to work on the project that expands the capabilities of the Omnipod 5 product. I had the opportunity to work on various aspects of this project, which allowed me to gain valuable hands-on experience and contribute to its progress. One of my key responsibilities was conducting wear studies of the Omnipod with CGMs. This involved meticulously testing the system to simulate a user setting. I carefully documented my findings and reported them to the development team for further analysis and resolution.?

To effectively carry out my tasks, I utilized the development tools provided to me. This powerful set of tools allowed me to execute test cases, ensuring thorough testing and validation of the system's functionality.?

Furthermore, I had the opportunity to work in the R&D lab, where I actively contributed to the assembly of pods. This involved a series of tasks, such as uploading software into the embedded system, performing component welding, and provisioning the pods for further testing. This hands-on experience allowed me to understand the intricate details of the pod assembly process and appreciate the importance of quality assurance in every step.?

In addition to my work on the hardware side, I was involved in the setup of handheld device also known as PDM (Personal Diabetes Monitor) to act as monitoring devices for the diabetes management system. Through this experience, I gained an understanding of the software aspects of the project and learned how different components integrate to provide a comprehensive solution.?

Overall, this project provided me with an enriching internship experience. It allowed me to develop a deep understanding of wear studies, bug testing, and reporting, while also gaining proficiency in utilizing various development tools. Moreover, my involvement in the assembly of pods and the setup of PDM devices broadened my knowledge of the project's hardware and software components. Through my contributions, I actively contributed to the project's progress and furthered my skills in the field of biomedical engineering.? ?

I’d like to thank my manager Aarthy Balakrishnan for her mentorship and support. I eagerly look forward to the second half of my internship - particularly connecting with more Insulet employees. I’m eager to contribute my best to the team and make a positive impact in my role and the company.

I would like to express my gratitude to UT Dallas Jonsson Career Services The University of Texas at Dallas The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at UT Dallas for their academic guidance.
