This is my second time penning down my internship experience on LinkedIn and first experience got published at my company’s private network “WIRED”, which truly reflects the extent of cordiality we “Interns” experience here. However, to make the most out of this opportunity, this time I am not just penning down the summary of what I did here, but I'm going to focus on what I’ve learnt during the wonderful 7 months’ long journey.
Stay connected till the end!
PART 1: Internship Experience
I took up the job of a Real Time Data Analyst Intern at Dallas, Essilor of America (National HQ.) as a 22 year-old novice with aspirations in her eyes and determination in mind to change my destiny and YES, it really made a difference.
To start with my experience, my internship taught and gave me more than I could have imagined. My duties were diverse and flexible. I am working on two analytics’ projects at present, wherein I am being given the flexibility to choose the technology I want to work on. From providing me with mentors disguised as my manager and director of the team @Didier Arcucci and VP @Robert Carrier to giving me an opportunity to grow with the best of the talents from all the corners of the world, to working closely with the CIO @Gregory Ericson - being awarded as the best in the region, Essilor made this journey a worthwhile one.
During this period of time with Essilor, apart from the technical projects I was involved in, I got the opportunity to volunteer with 2 BRGs; Essilor Women’s Network and Mosaic and conduct 3 events with the absolutely talented crowd from all around the world. From luncheons with CIO @Gregory Ericson and CFO @Dori Abendschein to being a beloved part of the heart of EOA (Commercial Integration Team, IT), every moment spent within this company was one in a lifetime experience. Thanks to @Lashanda Reed, @Stacey Givens, @Nicole Crotzer, @Lina Bentancourt, @MeghanaDhall , @Bidisha Rudra , @Vidur Moudgil for continuously motivating me to work harder and harder.
PART 2: Learnings
The learnings I accomplished being a part of this world’s largest lens manufacturing company, make a heap altogether, but below are the most important ones that might help all the newbies and job aspirants:
THE ART OF ASKING QUESTIONS
Not everybody knows how to go about all the technicalities perfectly in an office environment. Sometimes, you are left with incomplete requirements or knowledge of expectations which tend to undermine your final work. Thus, it is essential to ask questions not just from your performance perspective but also at individual level. JUST ASK!
I CAN LEARN BECAUSE I AM NOT ALONE
Starting into this position, I felt that I had no clue where my profession was going and I needed certainty about what I could do and what I am great at. My internship has unquestionably given me a superior comprehension of my range of abilities and where my profession may take me, however in particular, I've come to discover that I am not the only one. This journey has instructed me that nearly everyone is in my equivalent position. Not many understudies realize what they need to do, and it is something that is just not worth stressing over.
PROFESSIONAL ETHICS
This being my first position in an MNC, I didn't know precisely what's in store. Just working in the workplace and becoming accustomed to everything here has unquestionably set me up for whatever my next position might be. Simply observing day to day activities has shown me how individuals can meet up to complete things. Albeit some of the time I need to remind myself to utilize my inside voice, I feel I've adjusted to the workplace life moderately well.
As I abridge, I need to thank everybody here at my workplace who has bailed me out. This has really been an extraordinary learning path and I'll be everlastingly obliged to the individuals who gave me a hand here.
