My Internship Experience at State Farm

As I near the end of my 11-week internship at State Farm , I find myself reflecting on an incredible journey filled with learning, growth, and meaningful connections. This experience has significantly shaped my career aspirations and personal development in ways I had not anticipated.

During my time as a Finance and Business Analytics Intern in Financial Operations, I was entrusted with a variety of responsibilities that aligned well with my career focus in data analytics. My role involved data extraction, manipulation, and report generation. I was also responsible for compiling and interpreting forecasts and reports. Additionally, I researched and analyzed complex business issues and communicated my findings to a broad audience through reports and presentation.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my internship was the opportunity to work on several impactful projects. Throughout these projects, I developed a range of skills. I gained proficiency in SAS and Power BI, which enhanced my technical capabilities besides Excel, Python, and SQL. Time management became crucial as I learned to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. My ability to communicate complex findings to stakeholders improved significantly and learned the importance of storytelling.

My academic courses at the UT Dallas BS Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence program were crucial in preparing me for this internship. Courses such as Web Analytics, Database Management, Data Science Fundamentals, Applied AI and Machine Learning, and Business Intelligence have equipped me with essential knowledge and skills. I have had the opportunity to apply these skills in various projects and practical settings, further enhancing my ability to make meaningful contributions during this internship.

This internship has been a tremendous experience. I really enjoyed working with the talented analysts at State Farm, who were always willing to share their insights and provide guidance. The networking events allowed me to connect with professionals from different departments, learn about their experiences, and seek advice. Additionally, I participated in many activities such as community service, agency visit, and sports events. These experiences not only enriched my internship but also fostered a sense of community and belonging.

As I wrap up this internship, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to work at State Farm during this summer. The knowledge, skills, and connections I have gained are invaluable. This experience has reaffirmed my passion for data analytics and has set a solid foundation for my professional journey.
