My Internship Experience at Heart to Heart

This semester, I had the privilege of interning with Heart to Heart Hospice as a Volunteer Healthcare Management Intern. Heart to Heart is an organization that provides compassion and end-of-life relief to terminally ill patients. My most beneficial experience during my time here has been the opportunity to engage directly with the patients and offer companionship.?

Throughout my internship, I developed many skills, such as leadership skills, problem-solving, and coming up with creative solutions. I also had the opportunity to meet with professionals across different departments. Some of these include the Aide Staffing Manager, who is responsible for managing staffing assignments and resolving internal issues that may arise. I also met with the Site Revenue Coordinator who allowed me to oversee the documentation process to ensure Medicaid compliance and ensure funds remain accurate.

This experience increased my understanding of the healthcare system and provided me with valuable insight beyond a classroom setting. Working under the guidance of Debra Wyatt, Volunteer Coordinator, has been a very beneficial experience. I am very grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to Heart to Heart and have developed my skills in the healthcare management field.
