My Internship experience at Core-Mark

Internship Recap: Redistribution Operations Analyst Intern at Core-Mark

As I am completing my internship as a Redistribution Operation Analyst Intern at Core-Mark, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the amazing experience over the past ten weeks. I had the potential chance to work closely with industry specialists, master new abilities, and contribute to exciting projects. Right from the first day, I was welcomed to the company like family. The overwhelming feeling of anxiousness quickly turned into eagerness at the first day when I met my fellow interns and co-workers from my department.

?

Going over my internship deliverables, I felt nervous at first. After diving deep on those projects with my manager, I was excited to start working as he made everything clear and simple to understand. My favorite project to work on was the Rogue Spend audit where I had to build a report and present to the purchasing department. Having an impact with my work was very rewarding and is one thing that I strive for. One of the most memorable moments of the internship was our visit to the Fort Worth opco. It was fascinating to see how so much product is moved in and out of a facility every day and how much detail goes into the planning.

?

What made this internship unique was the Shark Tank presentation. Interns were divided in 3 groups, and we had the opportunity to present to the executives on areas we could improve the company. We spent a great deal brainstorming ideas and connected with numerous individuals across the company to find a solution. This whole project taught me how to communicate more efficiently, handle different projects, and helped build confidence. Presenting to the executives made us all nervous, but it was something that definitely helped with confidence building and presentation skills.

?

Lastly, I'd like to express my gratitude to everyone at Core-Mark for making me feel like family and demonstrating the excellent culture of the company. I want to give a huge thank you to my supervisor, Ben Hoskins who was extremely helpful during my time at the organization. I was motivated to learn as much as I could from him because of his business knowledge and understanding. Also, I really appreciate him taking the time to meet with me every day to go over my projects and help me overcome any obstacles. Overall, I am extremely grateful that I spent the last 10 weeks at an amazing place like Core-Mark.
