Data Quality Analyst Intern | Master of Science | Business Analytics at UTD | R | Python | Java | MySQL | Tableau | PowerBI
As a Data Quality Analyst Intern at Copart, I honed my ability to discern meaningful trends and information from extensive datasets. My primary responsibility was to analyze the overall direction of data quality across multiple data sources, domains, and products, identifying both improvements and issues and understanding the drivers behind these data quality variations.
Working as a liaison between data consumers and data engineering teams, I developed essential change management and soft skills. This role required me to gather data quality requirements from various stakeholders and ensure that the data engineering teams could build systems to meet those standards. This experience enhanced my communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse groups to achieve common goals.
In addition to these responsibilities, I gained proficiency in setting up and configuring data quality tools and acquiring subject matter expertise in specific industry data. Approximately 35% of my tasks involved becoming the primary user of data quality-related tools, while 20% of my work emphasized understanding specific domain data, particularly in the financial and public sectors.
Throughout my internship, I utilized a variety of data solutions, including Excel, Informatica, Tableau, Oracle, SAP, and Snowflake. This exposure provided me with a comprehensive understanding of modern data stacks and their applications in real-world scenarios.

The technical aspect of the role was also significant, with SQL proficiency being a crucial skill. Additionally, I applied programming knowledge in Python and, to a lesser extent, R, which were valuable for various data analysis tasks.
Overall, this internship at Copart equipped me with the skills necessary to excel as a Data Quality Analyst, including data management, statistical analysis, tool configuration, stakeholder communication, and technical proficiency in SQL and Python.
Additionally, I thank Prof. Gaurav Shekhar, Sivya Leventhal, and The University of Texas at Dallas professors for their guidance and assistance.
