Founded in 1978, Cinch has evolved into much more than a home warranty provider, ensuring the well-being of homeowners across 44 states. Today, Cinch boasts a team of over 900 dedicated employees and a network of independent service providers (contractors) to deliver top-notch service. As a company committed to excellence, Cinch serves over 1 million customers annually, offering 24/7 customer service to diagnose and prevent home warranty-related incidents.
What sets Cinch apart is not just its expertise in home warranties, but also its active engagement with the community. The company takes pride in supporting organizations that advocate improvements in education, healthcare, and equal rights. Inspired by Cinch's commitment to providing outstanding service and its dedication to the community, I was drawn to how my personal and professional goals align with the company's vision. This alignment prompted me to pursue an internship opportunity with Cinch as an IT Systems Engineer II.
Throughout my internship, I had the opportunity to be exposed to a diverse range of problem-solving experiences that significantly contributed to my professional growth. The projects I worked on consisted of ensuring the efficiency of our infrastructure and optimizing our mobile application (Cinch Pro). I gained hands-on experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues faced by employees and our service providers. This included helping with hardware and software problems and ensuring all systems ran smoothly. I learned to efficiently use tools and resources like Jira (our ticketing system) and remote support software to streamline the process of quickly identifying and resolving problems.
This experience not only enhanced my technical skills but also taught me the importance of effective communication when assisting non-technical users. What I found rewarding about my internship is that I discovered the significance of teamwork and collaboration. I regularly interacted with various IT professionals from our SysOps, Telecommunications, and network administrators to cybersecurity managers. This exposure allowed me to see the synergy of their roles and how a well-coordinated IT department functions to support an organization's technological infrastructure. I gained a better understanding that success does not come when you work alone, but as a team.
