MY INNER CRITIC IS A BIG JERK!

Be Brave. Change takes Courage.


Becoming aware of what we want and can change about ourselves, to make life work better for us, is a huge step forward for most of us. To actually take consistent actions towards this journey of change takes a whole different level of courage and commitment. In all our enthusiasm, we take on this transformation, many at times, with an unconscious expectation that we change … ASAP. And as soon as we feel that we are “sliding backwards” to our old self, an alarm goes off inside us that shouts, “I knew it! This ain’t going to work. It has not worked before, why would it it work now??” And we give up.


Be Patient. You are exactly where you need to be.


Having compassion for ourselves, especially during times of change, is a key ingredient to our success, however that looks like to YOU. Like picking up a new hobby, behavioural change takes time. What time are we talking about? ‘‘Practise time.‘‘ Again, in our enthusiasm to change, we forget how long we had spent honing this old habit.?Thus, unlearning it or replacing it with a new habit takes practise.


Be Compassionate. You are stronger than you think.


The more consistent our practise, the closer we get to our goal. Some days we celebrate tiny triumphs or glorious breakthroughs, other days we face worries and challenges that feel like existential crises. Having self-compassion and a strong network of support, whether from friends, family or coaches make the completion of the journey possible.
