My Infosys Story

My Infosys Story

Stories can be a beautiful and epic way of expressing our happiness, journey, and most importantly emotions. I was so delighted to read #InfosysStory of Kanika, Harleen, Meghna and Amrita. It’s just been a year at the Talent Acquisition team @Infosys and I am thrilled to share my #InfosysStory, So, go ahead and give it a read!

1. What made you join Infosys?

“Infosys” is a brand in itself. The first word which popped in my head when I heard about Infosys was “Wow”. I was working in my previous company when I first got a call to be a part of this thriving organization. I was interviewed by Saijeet who till this day has been my go-to-person for any of my doubts and clarifications. Everything was new to me and to be honest I was bit nervous during the screening process, but Saijeet eased the situation, and the next thing you know - I was filled with joy on getting selected and ready to join Infosys in a heartbeat. I had heard so many great things about Infosys - its work culture, environment, and how it had been a pioneer in #learning new things. These all became so fascinating for me, and like any other #Infoscion, it became my #Goal to be a part of this organization. Guess what my dream has come true and today I feel #ProudToBeAnInfoscion.

2. Tell us about your first day at Infosys

The first day at Infosys was exactly like picking a new book just how you start reading it with zeal and enthusiasm? I was as ecstatic to explore everything Infosys had to offer. There was a mixed feeling of both Excitement and Nervousness in starting this new phase of life. The sprawling green lawns at Bangalore DC have the capacity to make anyone awestruck by its sheer magnificence and beauty. The campus makes you feel as though you've stepped into the Dreamland. I remember talking to my parents and telling them that this is the place I want to come to work every single day of my life.

My day was getting better and better. How often do you get a chance to attend a party on your very first day? Probably Never. I’m extremely fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to be a part of the Offsite and meet this amazing team that I am proudly a part of today. And that’s exactly when I got the chance to “break the ice” and know my colleagues followed by little bit of dancing and enjoying the delicious food together. As soon as I stepped into the office, a warm welcome was given to me by My Manager, Naveen who introduced me to my lead Chinalee. I was amazed to see how everyone tried their best to make me feel comfortable and with such warm people around, I threw my bag of nervousness outside the window and started rejoicing my first day at Infosys. The day ended well with a meeting with my colleagues at the cafeteria. And that’s when I was invited to be a part of a ritual that my work family dedicatedly followed i.e. "cafeteria ki chai". Since then, there has never been a day when we’ve gone without one.

3. Your Most memorable moment at Infy would be

"Memories are a timeless treasure of the heart" This quote has stuck with me forever because #InfosysMemories have occupied a major part of my life. I have created so many unforgettable memories here. One of the best memories is the "Secret Santa week". It gave me an opportunity to become a reason for someone else’s happiness. Being habitual of just wishing "Merry Christmas" to each other in school on 25 December played no big role in my life. But Infosys changed that for me - we had an amazing One-week celebration of Christmas at our office. The entire office lit up with stars, wreaths, Tree Topper, poinsettias and mistletoes. There were some healthy competitions that resulted into active participation of teammates. And of course, singing and dancing added more whoopee to the fun.

The takeaway moment for me was visiting the Orphanage. When I met those kids my heart was filled with felicity and not only me the kids were joyous too. These are the moments that can’t be expressed merely in words but one could make it out by watching the spark in my eyes.

4. The difference between earlier you & the present you

There is a vast difference in the person I was and the person I am after joining Infosys. Infosys provided me with just the right #opportunities to unleash my potential and use it optimally. I am a more independent and confident person than ever before. This place has well-trained me and groomed my skills at work. I am an improvised version where bugs have been fixed and new features are getting added. I followed Infosys's mantra of #learning new things which is the core value of Infosys. It helps me to enhance my personality both professionally and personally. I am always on the spree to learning more and more. Now, whatever comes on my plate, I am confident enough to handle it well. Infosys gave me an identity to define my ability so that I could become a more independent, confident, happier, hard-working, and determined person. I think this is the best thing about Infosys, it won't change your persona but it will help you to grow and shine like a star. "You become a star, not because of your title; you become a star because you are adding star value to the company" this quote is by Narayana Murthy Sir who strongly believes in it and now I believe in the same as well.

5. Message for your fellow Infoscions

The only thing I have for my fellow Infoscions is #gratitude. My colleagues are my pillars in this organization. I am extremely thankful to all of them who have helped me, encouraged me in the times of need, and strengthen me to achieve the milestones throughout my journey. My fellow Infoscions... because of your intuitive and thoughtfulness I have come this far. You are my second family today and I can't wait to start my day without you. A big #Thankyou to all of you. You guys are my superstars.

6. Personal Slogan

When life gives you everything... you want to feel sad...

When life gives you nothing...you want to feel bad...

It doesn't matter if you have nothing ...Neither does it matter if you are the king.

You got one life to smile...one life to cry...one life to feel...one life to heal...

Believe in yourself and make every second count...

Shine like a star and fly like a bird.
