My Infosys Story

I recently read Harleen's beautifully written #Infosys story and it made me both nostalgic and extremely happy to be part of this incredible organization. Also inspired me to share mine.. :)
1. What made you join Infosys?
I was offered the job at Infosys through campus placements at my business school. It was a usual frenetic ‘day 0’ placement day and we were all rushing from one presentation/group discussion/interview to the next. I distinctly remember the Infosys presentation. It was a big group for sure. And compared to earlier ones (not naming any) truly the most passionate, comforting and engaging. Vardha was extremely kind despite my nervous rambling while describing my internships during the interview. The #candidateexperience combined with the power of the brand made me join Infosys.
2. Tell us about your first day at Infosys
Day one at Infosys can be a bit overwhelming for someone walking into their first ever jobs. Crossing the walking bridge on the day alongside fellow Infoscions at Bangalore campus is an emotion I will never forget. It transitioned from ‘am I one of this big crowd now’ to ‘wow, am I really a part of this incredible place’ somewhere during that first day. And it stayed that way ever since. The friends I made during the orientation in the massive auditorium are still very dear to me 12 years later. The organizational learnings may have taken longer but the sense of belonging established right there on that first day!
3. Your most memorable moment at Infy would be
There are just way too many. I have been extremely fortunate to have gained entry into two of the Infosys annual strategy events through a competition while I was still eligible (they have an age limit :)). I travelled from my assignment in UK to Bangalore for the 2nd one and they had the winners attend the first session alongside the Infosys Board members. Landing at 4am, walking into the meeting at 9am still slightly dizzy with jetlag, I find my name right in the middle of Mr. K V Kamath (Chairman) and Mr. Shibulal (CEO) in the first row (they most likely followed alphabetical order). What followed was one of the most awe-inspiring, enriching, slightly mystifying but overall truly memorable days of my life at Infosys. The conversations, camaraderie, celebrating, Q&A, banter, challenging each other and also at times teasing our then CFO about his unique style of announcing financial reports; are all the things I would never forget about that day. Only an Infosys would bestow an opportunity that incredible.
4. The difference between the earlier YOU & the present YOU
This is my third stint with Infosys (owing to moves both planned and at times driven by life events). I have had the incredible privilege to be part of this organization across 3 geographies including a year with one of the subsidiaries. The learnings and experiences have accumulated and amplified over the years. While the earlier me was probably more impatient and awe-struck and the present me is slightly more patient and settled, the sheer joy of being part of this amazing team and organization hasn’t changed one bit.
5. Message to fellow Infoscions
Infosys has time and again, and more than ever during this global crisis, proven to be a pillar of strength and stability for not just the clients and employees but for the entire ecosystem. The sprawling self-sustained campuses, innovation hubs, global campus and community engagements, learning platforms and our ever resilient spirit to keep moving forward gives us more than a reason every day to feel proud of being an #Infoscion. And trust me, once an Infoscion, always an Infoscion :)
Looking forward to your #Infosys story…
