My hands are in pain, but I am a dedicated visual artist who must endure this journey 365 days a year
I was recently diagnosed with diabetes 2019. they say I can push it into remission. Never said I had one or two. I have had no flare ups. but i have concerns that my hands my have nerve damage. Sadly doctors on phone calls can not do anything. They also do not have face to face exams. Emergency rooms have turned me away as chronic because of my age. Seventy one.
Since the pandemic I have solo isolated myself from the rest of the human race. I rarely see my roommate. I have turned the Apartment kitchen into a working Artist studio. The fridge being my back drop. I am working 365 days a year creating fine arts landscapes. all from memory I never use photos. I enjoy painting sky. I began doing this December 31st 2019.
Doctors have told me to stop that I am in retirement age. That my hands will only get worse. Why must they be so negative? I am not the only one in the world with diabetes. It seems to hit all humans lately.
Here I am typing away on my brand new computer that my retired roommate designed just for me. A grand look that tower lights up. and can change colours. Great if your a gamer.
looking like an aquarium lit up. the tower itself is teal well worth the $2789.00 I paid for. it is high but everything during the pandemic is expensive. the mother board the most. I sit in its calm lights after midnight. I have a utube play list of new age music. it helps set the mood for new skies.
I paint while the city sleeps. my music is low just back ground. 3 am i have primed a large 38 by 42 canvas. Yes I talk to my canvases getting the go ahead. year 2020 i completed 45 canvases I sold 15. 2021 i completed 65 canvases sold 10. so far in 2022 i have completed 27 canvases i have sold 20. i still have 92 commissioned works. Today I am about to start a new canvas. the theme is for a health retreat in Ontario Canada. A barter for wellness. When completed I will have two weeks stay, and the medical part is covered by ohip.

They commissioned something meditative from my minds eye. That can be fun. most of my work is that way, gentle yet powerful i have been told. Seeing is understanding it is your own interpretation . Right now I am thinking about winter it isn't that far off. so i may create something that is warm and tropical with colourful wildlife. They already own 6 canvases on their wellness estate. all in their solarium. Halton Ontario country estate, not far from the Bruce trail. Very close to nature. not far from waterfalls and the escarpment.
However i plan this to be tropical rain forest theme which i will use my memories from Ontario to recreate a magical rainforest with colourful birds. taking breaks, resting my hands. my mind is very wide awake i have no problem with visuals. i have a grand imagination a few more years on my dance card to complete them. Here are some works i just sold recently. if i quit now my life will drain away. my art is my wellness, so i will stay on my 365 day quest. wish i had done this in my years as a young visual artist, #365days #artwellness #visualartist #rainbowconnections
