Name & Brand?
Peter Vetere, Home Performance Alliance ? ?
Can you start by sharing a bit about your background and how you initially joined the company??
I'm originally from Boston and attended Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio. I moved to Florida after being recruited by Home Shopping Network. Over the years, I honed my management skills at CPN Television Studios and the TJX Companies, particularly in the Marshalls Division. In 2016, I joined Home Performance Alliance (HPA), eager to help elevate the company to its next level of growth.?
What motivated you to pursue a career with Home Performance Alliance??
?
After spending ten years in management at TJX Corporation, where I gained valuable life skills, I met with the Founder of Home Performance Alliance. I saw a great opportunity to be part of a team that was building something from the ground up, and I was excited to contribute to its growth with full commitment.?
?
Can you share a pivotal moment or project that played a significant role in your early career development??
One key project involved ensuring we had a variety of financing options, which allowed us to negotiate better terms for both the company and our customers. I also built strong relationships with finance company management to address any issues promptly. Early on at HPA, I took it upon myself to directly address customer concerns, often receiving calls on my personal cell phone at all hours. Nothing is more rewarding than turning a customer complaint into a five-star review. It takes time and effort, but it's worth it.?
?
How did you navigate challenges during your early career, and what strategies did you employ to overcome them??
Early in my management career, I challenged myself to become a better listener, especially when coaching and providing feedback. Over time, I developed a key communication skill: "Listen to learn." Listening fosters strong team dynamics and leads to greater success. By coaching in real time and truly listening, I've been able to build and encourage stronger teams.?

?
As you progressed in your career, were there specific skills that you worked on to enhance your professional profile??
Before officially joining HPA, I asked to spend a few months selling and learning the ins and outs of the business model. I also took the time to observe installations to fully understand our operations. By knowing every aspect of the business, I felt better equipped to make informed decisions and provide the right guidance to our sales team.?
Tell us about the transition from your initial role to your current position in a different department. How did you identify this opportunity, and what steps did you take to make the move successfully??
When I first joined HPA about eight and a half years ago, I assisted with HR, company insurance, operations, and sales, among other areas. As the company grew and more staff were hired, I was able to focus on finance, customer service issues, and legal matters. I still support the sales reps and motivate them when needed since they are the lifeblood of HPA. I enjoy motivational speaking, and when the moment calls for it, I step into the sales training room to rally the team. I believe in doing whatever it takes to get things done—whether that's fixing an issue with the restrooms or handling the air conditioning system. If something needs immediate attention, I step up and take care of it. This mindset is key to our success and growth.?
?
Were there specific mentors or role models who played a significant role in your career advancement? How did they influence your professional development??
My early mentor was Stuart Arnold, the founder of Auto Trader. After selling the company to Cox Media, he opened CPN TV Studios, where I served as his Marketing and Communications Director for over 14 years. Stuart taught me the importance of focus, steadiness, and achieving results.?
?
Looking ahead, what are your future career goals, and how do you plan to continue your professional development within the company??
I've already had the privilege of working with many talented individuals within the GDI family of brands. My primary goal is to support HPA's management team in building the brand and driving future growth. Looking forward, I'd like to expand my role on a national scale across all GDI brands. I've already begun collaborating with Patricia Dume on customer service issues, and her feedback has been invaluable as I transition into my new role at GDI.?
?
Any advice for colleagues or individuals aspiring to advance their careers within the organization??
John F. Kennedy once said, "The more our knowledge increases, the more our ignorance unfolds." We are constantly learning, and I open myself up to new systems and reports every day. Embrace new technology and look for ways to achieve your goals more efficiently. Connect with your teams, challenge them to grow, and take pride in watching their development. Nothing makes me prouder than seeing team members grow into strong leaders over time.?
