Celebrating a woman who’s influenced my career and life?#IWD2023 ?#EmbraceEquity ?#krutishahglobal
?? I think it was the year 1995 , On a warm sunny day, in my home town Gadag (North Karnataka) I remember an old lady visiting my grandmother with basket full of fresh vegetables from her village which she grew in her garden.
She spoke in a rough tone (village tone) and greeted my grandmother. My Grandmother offered her Orange juice (Rasna drinks – with ice cubes to beat the heat). She continued to express gratitude to my grandmother (she was happy to become a grandmother of a baby boy). She also said how much she missed working in the community kitchen for many years under her guidance. My grandmother took updates of other women workers who worked in the kitchen & those came from nearby villages, and asked if they needed any help?
?
I was raised by my grandparents, and this seen was very common to see when I was growing up. Many woman came to her to seek advice, take guidance from her and express gratitude.

My grandmother headed community kitchen for many years, which employed several women workers who came from nearby villages. My grandmother treated them like a family. Instructed them like a boss, she would shout when things went wrong, she helped them when in need, and end of the day they would share their experience, eat and laugh together.

Those days I felt my grandmother was dominant, loved instructing people. (I was the first on line).

Today, when I look back, I know my grandmother laid the foundation of what I am as a Global Mind-set trainer. Being a Kutchi from Kutch (Gujrat) raised in Kerala, heading a community kitchen in interiors of North Karnataka (Gadag). She learnt the local language, embraced the local culture and built relationship with local people to serve the community.

Even today when I visit my home town, I see how fondly people recall about her witty tips on cooking, how to control last minute disasters in the kitchen. The wisdom and those women she shared that loving bond with.
?
My grandmother will always be my greatest influencer in my life and career.
?
Many of those things I learnt by my international mentors are same as my grandmother taught me at an early age. Sit straight, don’t slouch, don’t make noise while eating, use napkins, stand up and greet, and lot more…. that is now the part of my etiquette and culture module as a global mind-set trainer.
