My Grandfather's Face
As I reflect upon the image of my grandfathers face I cannot help but wonder about how he lived his life, what hardships he has survived, what joys have uplifted him. Mostly I wonder how radically the world has changed as seen through this mans eyes. Life has not been easy on him.
Life is not easy on anyone.
Yet Life is really not about what happens to us that matters, it is how we choose to respond to it. As I look into each line that has been so deeply etched upon his countenance I cannot see any malice or resentment for the trials of his life.
I recall him telling me, "What does not kill you can only make you stronger."
The lines around his mouth paint the image of a man who always wore a smile. Even now I can feel the warmth of his smile. But it is his eyes that draw me into this portrait. There is an eternal kindness there, a Kindness that comes from the Heart.
Through all the trials of Life, through Peace, War, and Terrorism, there has always been something of Kindness that he could share with others.
His words echo through my mind. "There is power in Kindness, a power to heal all hurts. Kindness never causes hurt."
I can still feel the Kindness of his soul, and now I understand how he always had such joy in his Heart that was reflected through that perpetual smile, that smile that he has planted in my own Heart.

6 年Omeed Totakhel, as the Artist of the picture which inspired this bit of Word Art, your approval is worth so much to me. I have never met your Grandfather. All that I know about him came from the picture you drew. If I have painted him accurately, then that reflects your ability as an Artist. You have a beautiful Gift.
