My gorilla nature
Have you ever wondered how your instincts play at work? Going beyond sexuality it is very interesting to understand how our intrisic animal driving forces are always running on the background of our brains. Dr. Jordan Peterson, PhD explains very beautifully how animal brain is wired to organize at hierarchical groups since cephalopods to the highest mammals as an optimization mechanism. This instinct is the seed of what is callled "politics". As a survival mechanism our brain is wired to fight for being at the highest positions of the hierarchy because there, the survival possibilities are higher from all point of view: health, protection, food quality, shelter quality, any kind of benefits while being of the lower layers of the hierarchy leads to higher levels of stress due to the higher exposure to all kind of threats.
I have been working as an engineer among mostly men all my life and as I get older I am becoming a kind of anthropologist of human behaviour. Certainly the conduct of male and female is different among all species, not being different at the highest developed animal specie. I will not make any highlight on this controversy to avoid me some problems but I just wanted to raise the awareness on our instincts because I think they are a bit overlooked.
Next time you find a strong impulse within yourself think a bit if you are being pulled by your animal nature or if you are thinking as a rational and socialized human being.
