My Goals for 2024 (Update #6 - July)

My Goals for 2024 (Update #6 - July)

Happy July everyone! I hope you are making progress towards your goals!

It was a busy month for me with preparing for officiant speech for my friend's wedding while also celebrating my brother's and my wife's birthday!

Continue reading below for my 6th update to my 2024 goals!

1) Personal Development Goals

For my personal development goals, I want to challenge myself to do new things and continue to grow!

a)?(ON TRACK, 5,000 minutes) Exercise for 10,000 minutes on Peloton (excluding walking)

For 2024, I want to focus on more active exercising through Peloton. I set a goal of 10,000 minutes on Peloton excluding walking classes. This means that I will need to do strength training, cycling, or running for at least 30 minutes every day.

I exercised 800 minutes in June despite being away from home for 3 out of the 5 weekends.

b) (ON TRACK: 7.5 pounds) Lose 15 pounds from 188.5 lbs

In June, I started at 180.2 pounds and ended the month higher at 182.1. However, my average weight in June was the lowest out of all the months so far! I need to keep on track with my weight!

c)?(BEHIND): 10 paid coaching clients and 4 paid speaking opportunities

For 2024, I want to double the number of paid coaching clients as well as the number of paid presentations from 2023. To help with getting these opportunities, I've been sharing weekly tips for shy introverts (more updates below).

In June, I had the honor of officiating my friend's wedding in San Diego. I shared about how they were the perfect couple who puts the other person before themselves, how I got to know each of them, and officially proclaimed them as married!

I also spoke on an ERG panel at work during new hire orientation. I shared about the benefits of joining an ERG, how being an ERG leader has helped my career, and advice on how to start getting involved in an ERG.

Previous presentations:

2/8: MC for the Applied Materials Lunar New Year Festival

2/21: How to Build Confidence for Networking at San Jose State University

2/26: My Public Speaking and Content Creation journey for Theta Tau Rho Delta at University of Nevada, Reno

3/14: My Career Journey at the Piedmont Middle School Career Day

4/11: My Career Journey for the Applied Materials Momentum Fund.

If you know of any organization that would benefit from presentations about LinkedIn, content creation, or building confidence as an introvert, let me know!

d)?ONGOING: Learn Japanese (and then another language)

In 2024, I am continuing to learn Japanese on Duolingo. This month, I learned words and phrases related to expressing desires, religion, casual language, space, animals, and the outdoors!

2) Professional Development Goals

I want to continue to gain new skills and knowledge to grow professionally!

a)?Continue to learn in my job

Now that I am starting a new position at Applied Materials, I'm going to stop focusing on learning data analysis, Python, and Excel scripting and focus more on learning for my new role!

I have a lot to learn about chemistry and how different layers are deposited to make a chip. I also have to learn how to lead a new program, how to lead various functions to take customer requirements, come up with new ideas, test them in the lab, get feedback from the customer, create a Bill of Materials, and deliver multiple systems to our customers!

I'm super excited for this new role and I wanted the challenge of learning all of these things!

3) Content Creation Goals

For 2024, to be more consistent with creating content on LinkedIn, I have been posting weekly tips for shy introverts to build confidence! You will see my posts at 7AM Pacific time every Monday! Make sure to follow my hashtag #stephenhelpsyou and #shyintroverttips.

Here are my posts from June!

Wow! Your goals are impressive! My goals are smaller in size & not as many. I start with basic survival goals- as in, dealing with fear, stress & anxiety each day. I cannot mirror what you do, the quantity is overwhelming to me. But your posts are encouraging & inspiring.
