Happy July everyone! We're on the 2nd half of the year!
Here's my progress towards my 2023 goals.
1) Personal Development Goals
For my personal development goals, I want to challenge myself to do new things and continue to grow!
a)?(AHEAD,?8,130?minutes) Exercise for 12,000 minutes on Peloton
In June I was able to work out for 1,140 minutes across 27 classes!
You can follow me on Peloton: @stephenlu
b)?(AHEAD, 6 out of 12) Do 12 new things for the first time
By doing new things, you get out of your comfort zone and build confidence to do other new things!
I didn't do anything new this month, but we spent 3 of the 4 weekends picking cherries and peaches from a nearby farm!
Here are the previous new things I did this year:
1)?Adopted a dog. She's a German Shepherd that we named Penny!
2) Made cup ramen noodles by hand in Osaka, Japan
3) Took the ropeway in Owakundani, Japan to look at Mt. Fuji
4) Started obedience training for our dog, Penny
5) Drive a Lamborghini and watch a basketball game from the Crypto.com Arena suite
6) Got COVID :(
c)?(BEHIND: 1 out of 3): 3 paid speaking opportunities
In June, I had my first paid speaking opportunity of the year! I presented about how to build confidence for public speaking to the 7Edu Academy. Thank you Bryant Art for the opportunity!
If you know of any organization that would benefit from presentations about LinkedIn, content creation, or building confidence as an introvert, let me know!
Previous speaking opportunities:
1) February: LinkedIn to SJSU Student Alumni Council

2) March: Table mentor for SJSU Networking: Tips from the Executive Suite
3) April: Career Hustle & Flow Podcast with Junette Caloroso
4) May: Engineering Fields of Dream podcast with Matt Stoner
d)?ON TRACK: Learn Japanese (and then another language)
I am continuing to learn Japanese on Duolingo. I reached a 400-day streak on Duolingo this month!
I learned new words related to health, the classroom, clothes and hobbies.
2) Professional Development Goals
I want to continue to gain new skills and knowledge to grow professionally!
a)?(BEHIND): Complete 3 online courses
There are a lot of free and low-cost courses available online! I'm a big fan of Udemy and have used it in the past to learn Excel VBA and Python.
I just started a new?Python course on Udemy. It's a?#100DayChallenge?of coding and I completed 14 out of 100 days so far! I even created my own program to create a packing list for trips based on the number of days, activities, and the weather.
3) Content Creation Goals
I did not post much during this month as I focused more time on my online Python course.
It's been fun posting videos again and engaging with my audience. You can watch all of my videos in my?#30DayVideoChallenge, as well as all of my previous videos since 2018 in my?Google Doc.
4) Life Goals
Last year, I bought a house and got married! The next major step for me in life is to start a family!
a)?(ON TRACK, 4 out of 10): Take 10 trips this year
This week, we are on a road trip to Seattle and Portland with our dog. It's a 13-hour drive up to Seattle where we'll see friends and family and enjoying good food. Then, we'll go to Portland and do some hiking and enjoy more good food!
2) April: Friend's bachelor's party in Los Angeles
3 and 4) May: Orlando and Carmel
