My Goal Line Has Moved

My Goal Line Has Moved

Can we manage to merge our innate desire to be free, and our "need" to make money?

One of my mentors Michelle Anne states "Life`s beauty is in its unpredictability". Don`t we all know this is truth; somewhere within us? The bigger question for today`s day to day is do we have the courage to live knowing this truth? And enjoy the journey accordingly.

Can we let go of the fear of not having enough? Can we accept that we`re all imperfect beings trying to make perfect decisions? Or are we destined to accept the pressure our bosses, social media influencers, loved ones put on us as dominant?

The highly structured, even dogmatic expectations of society have ruled my life for over 60 years. It was about age 7 when I first realized that other people`s opinions would affect my unbridled zeal for life. But I`ll never forget how wonderful it felt to run out of the front door of my house to go play football or basketball with the neighborhood kids.

That energy is the essence of the personal power I, and every other human being, was born with. That spurt of adrenaline, that desire and ability to run and breathe more deeply and be out of doors and share bumps and grinds and laughs and cries and knockdowns and backups and the raw emotion of competing and winning and losing- those are life`s unpredictable/ beautiful/real experiences.

Those inspiration-filled days shaped my life. I am so grateful for them and the feeling instilled within me. I feel even more blessed to know that`s what I want more of and have in my life right now. I am committed to never losing that search for vigor and vitality in my daily life.

We are fully alive in that element I refer to as personal power or freedom. That's where we can experience love for life itself. It is here we need nothing other than what God gave us.

Maybe we need office settings and desk jobs and computers and mundane tasks to juxtapose that side of life. Maybe my daily yoga practice more now because I`ve spent so many days on the phone/at my desk making a living.

I`m not sure I`ll ever get the answer to those questions. What I do know is that so much of the stress we feel is self-imposed. We`ve been conditioned and programmed to squash that personal power we`re born with and transfer it into money-making "experience" - jobs.

Many of us have lost the balance we need to be happy. We`re so busy working we`ve lost the muscle memory we learned to love as kids. But we`re all created to enjoy this life, not conquer it.

I`ve lost the quest for more stuff and replaced it with the joy of more fitness and peace of mind. I find these awesome feelings on my mat and off. In the moving meditations of Kundalini yoga. I rekindle and express those childlike qualities in my conversations with "strangers", neighbors, and family. I sleep more deeply than I have in years. The deeper we breathe, through the work we ask of our lungs, the easier we rest.

Most of us have the enormous blessing of being able to get up out of our chairs and take a walk. Why do we feel restricted from doing so?

The Goal Line is out there. But it`s moving. Are you?
