My Fish Out of Water Experience Podcasting

Have you ever felt like a fish out of water?

Or better still, have you ever felt so incompetent you almost rejected the task and sent the client off?

That was how I felt the first time I was giving a podcasting gig.

The task was simple: take the audio file and transcript, listen to the podcast , understand it as much as possible, and then outline the key takeaways and other juicy aspects of it.

Don't get me wrong, I was into writing for over a year already, but this just felt different.

And because I haven't done it before, imposter syndrome kicked in.

Plus, I didn't have a formal onboarding on the procedures or how to carry out the task; I was just given a task and a deadline plus a cash reward, too, you know, lol.

I finished the task within the deadline, thanks to resources like Google and YouTube.

The ability to find valuable and relevant resources on there need much recognition.

Anyway, back to the story, I submitted the task for perusal, and after a few hours, I got a nudge that it was approved, and I could move to the next task to be assigned shortly.

I had a somewhat "Am I a Wizard" moment.

You know that feeling when your skills are validated; it floods you with much confidence.

And that was how I started my journey in the podcasting space.

I've learned a lot of lessons along the way, how to always keep your expenses at near zero yet being as efficient as possible.

How to be punctual.

Maintaining an efficient workflow.

An efficient workflow is like an engine; once there's a clog in one area, it affects the overall performance.

Most importantly, I've learned to always put the client first.

By ensuring they meet their goals for hiring you as a podcast producer.

This will keep your clients coming back for more.
