My First Week at Baker Finn Recruitment
As an MTU student starting work placement with Baker Finn Recruitment, I began this week with a mix of nerves and excitement. Coming from a Marketing course in college, I knew that I had a lot to learn about recruitment and the industry.
From day one, I felt welcome in the Baker Finn office, with team members going out of their way to make me and the two other placement students feel at ease. The first two days consisted of an abundance of training, which didn’t all quite make sense at first. However, by observing (and attempting to participate) in the process, I have gained a deeper understanding of what recruitment is.
I was given my first assignment, allowing me to put my existing knowledge and newly found training into practice. By utilising the platforms and tools available, I successfully identified a candidate for the role I was tasked with. The next step in the process was to call the candidate. Although I was nervous to make my first call, the candidate was friendly and engaging, and I found myself easing into the call. I felt a sense of accomplishment after the call, and I am eager to learn more during this placement.
Looking back on my first week, I feel accomplished knowing I have overcome various challenges and pushed myself out of my comfort zone. I am so grateful to the Baker Finn team for their guidance and encouragement and for helping me to make the best of my experience so far. I am excited for the weeks ahead to enhance my skills and broaden my knowledge.
