My first time attending WLPC

Last week I attended WLPC 2022 in Prague. WLPC stands for Wireless Lan Professionals Conference and hot damn - there really was lot of Wireless Lan Professionals from all over the globe there.

The conference lasted from Sunday morning until Friday. A whole week of only Wi-Fi! I got to meet technicians from Czechia, America, England, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Brazil, Russia, Switzerland, France and more. I met, heard and talked to the people that have written the material, created the podcasts and videos that have taught me all about Wi-Fi. For me that is an amazing experience.?

The first days I attended a packet analysis boot camp from Peter MacKenzie. He told stories from his troubleshooting experiences, tips and tricks, detailed info about Wi-Fi protocols and more. Deep diving into packet analysis is really heavy stuff, but I would recommend it to every other Wi-Fi technician. Seeing what happens behind the Wi-Fi is a really good work tool. Below is a picture of me trying to hold my brain together at the boot camp.

After 3 days of boot camp the presentations and deep dives started. There was a talks about Wi-Fi6, Wi-Fi6E, Wi-Fi7, automation and more. Videos from the presenters at the conference will soon be uploaded here so everybody can take a peek: https://www.youtube.com/c/WirelessLANProfessionals/videos

Rosalia Bibona from Extreme Networks said it best "it's almost like Wi-Fi is being born again!".?Psst.. I took that sentence from the book that I won, signed by David Coleman :-)

I attended a deep dive course about antennas with Jim Palmer. He has worked with antennas for some decades, so you can guess how interesting this deep dive was! Here is a picture of Jim and Fran?ois Vergès discussing (fighting?) about how antenna patterns is interpreted.

Hope I will be able to attend next year and perhaps present something myself. This conference have given me a boost to step up the performance in the everyday as the days in Norway gets colder and darker.? I would recommend this conference for every other technician that works with Wi-Fi on a daily basis. It is vendor neutral and all about sharing knowledge. Like?Keith Parsons?says: "It's all about the people".

Huge thank you to my employer, Intility, letting me attend this conference in a busy workday!

Glad you enjoyed the conference and the deep dive. For the record, Francois was actually trying to teach ME what we were looking at!
