My first TEDx experience...

In 2013, while caught between being out of a job and trying to start something, and anything I could start, I discovered TED Talks. I was blown away at how these regular people could share some of the most amazing things there were involved in. From the literary break down of Hip Hop, to how the very culture could be used to heal, I was inspired, and watching these talks help me understand 'hard work'.

Two years later, I heard that a group of individuals were planning a TEDx, which is an independently organized TED event that allows a small group of people to be part of a TED-Like experience. Boy was I excited. Of course there was uncertainty as always, but remembering the talks I had watched, I bought a ticket (which was not cheap) and braced.

Fast forward to the end of TEDx Gaborone, I was overwhelmed, was sad it was done so quickly, though I had been the hall listening for almost 8 hours, had met some very interesting people, and at a time when I didn't know if what I was doing at the time was making a difference, I learned that a smile was enough to change someone's life for the better.

2017 is upon us, and another independent TED event is slated in Gaborone on the 31st March 2017. This one promises to be even bigger, with presenters from every walk of life.

www.tedxgaborone.com has more information on the event and the speakers, and I urge all of you to buy a ticket because very few things beat the TED experience, in my case, only the kiss from my wedding day and watching my son being born beat it... Lol... So what are you waiting for, get your ticket NOW...
