My First Post
I have always been scared to post on LinkedIn but here goes.
Right now i am in-between one of the biggest life choices i have ever made
About 9 weeks ago i stumbled across Ironhack , they were offering a Full Stack Web Development Bootcamp. This immediately intrigued me as wanting to properly commit to coding. Having dropped out of computer science at university as the pandemic and lockdown hit due to uncontrollable mental health issues. I wanted to hit the reset button and try again.
To me coding is an art form, you can create/replicate anything you dream of. Another positive of coding is that you never learn it all, endless opportunities and languages. Everyday you can learn something new.
With a lot of worries, apprehension, anxiety. I hit the button. I submitted my application for the bootcamp.
In the first week i fell in love, years later with my mental health completely under control. It was like seeing code for the first time. While starting the bootcamp i was still working full time.
After my first week i took the biggest leap in my entire life.
Week 2 Tuesday Afternoon - My notice period started. I quit my job of 3 years.
4 weeks left before i was unemployed, but 8 more weeks and i would complete the bootcamp. This was very scary for me but i do not regret it at all.
Now i have currently finished my 6th week of the bootcamp, i haven't looked back since and i would encourage anyone who is looking to change their life around or career to take that big leap. The scariest decisions are the most important ones.
I would now like to take the time to share with you my projects that are apart of me to look back at and be proud of my progress. No matter how small they may look in the future, this was my starting point, the beginning, a potential new future for me

Project 1 - https://michaelhodgkins.github.io/Into-The-Void/
Into The Void is a game where the player has to face an opponent on the battlefield, this game is down to pure luck and randomisation, 15 cards are split into three groups with three different values. When your value is higher, you gain a point. Both cards are then discarded. The game ends when either player reaches 3 points. It will then take you to the end screen where you can replay the game if you wish.
Project 2 - https://humble-gamer.herokuapp.com/auth/login
Humble Gamer is a CRUD web application that uses the RAWG API to search and store your favourite games.
The second project was done in collaboration with one bootcamp colleagues that i can now call a good friend Adam Amatavivadhana . Please keep a look out for future projects we will be collaborating together on.
If anyone would like to hire a new developer who is passionate and always willing to learn and overcome tough challenges. Please reach out. I am currently applying for Internships/Apprenticeships/Junior positions.
A bootcamp can only teach me so much in 9 weeks but considering i couldn't code 8 weeks ago. I am proud of what i have achieved so far and what my future holds for me.
Honourable mentions to the wonderful people who keep pushing me throughout this bootcamp when it gets tough. Daniel Pettengell Susie Holm Matt Searle Adam Amatavivadhana Hsinju Yu Priscille Louis-Rose Pauline Thomas .
Thank you to Ironhack and all the incredible tutors who have helped me this far.
