My first job interview
Randhir Pandey
25+ years of Expertise in Sales, Business Development and Entrepreneurship in the Building Material Industry.
I was pursuing my Graduation (2nd year) & filled for a job application. Even though they had asked for Engineer (Civil) with MBA, I still took a chance & sent my CV.
Was fortunate to get a call letter! cleared the first round & second round and now it was the final round with the GM of the region. After intense grilling for almost 30+ minutes, when He was convinced with my candidature he asked about my future plans and I told him after graduation I’ll pursue for MBA.
He was taken aback! He said he was looking for BE(civil) & I was pursuing my BA-02nd year.
He immediately asked his secretary to get the News Paper advertisement & kept it in front of me, pointing towards the qualification asked for the job. In turn I said, “I know, but I too had mentioned in my CV pursuing Graduation”. I didn’t lie on my CV or even during the interview and assured him of giving good sales, which I did in future & he was very happy of his decision of hiring me.
The interviewer got impressed with my honesty & the dedication I showed towards getting the job & my assurance of not letting him down for his decision by over achieving the targets.
