My first experience with OVHcloud
I don't post here so often, but I feel that now was the right time.
Today I was looking for a French VPS/VM provider and found OVHcloud , OK reviews and I can peer with them at AMS-IX the day I can afford to connect there, wohoo!
So I simply googled for OVHcloud and there was a good non-sponsored link. https://www.ovhcloud.com/ loads and I look at creating an account, I create a corporate account, OK well I can't get invoicing for some reason, a minus but acceptable.
I added my corporate card and now I I can finally create my virtual machine!
First I need to know what type a cloud I want, Bare Metal, Private Cloud, Public Cloud and Web Cloud... OK Public Cloud seems right.
I need to create a project, ok sure, let's name it GetGeek, now finally I can choose a VM/VPS.
Well not the options I want, but sure. Let's see what region I can choose..... aaaaaaaand nothing.
That's strange, but I have an option to chat with support about my order, phew!
Well crap, OK I wonder if they have an incident perhaps?
No, Customer Service is working as intended and no other major issues, what is happening?

I surf right back to ovhcloud.com and end up in the management panel, but for some reason I am located at https://ca.ovh.com/manager, what the heck is .ca? oooooo Canada, I seem to be located in the .ca region because I chose English as language. OK English in EU seems to be Ireland for some reason (Hey OVH, the EU flag and English would be a good option here). I seem to need to login again, ok silly but well...
Aaand wrong password, strange since I have a password manager, perhaps I did something wrong? I try to restore my password but to no success.
Now I choose Canada (English) again and I am logged in, suddenly I get an ad from OVH pointing out that I can get $200 discount for my first month, sure! But I need to create a new project, sure I choose GetGeek again and it works.
Now I have two projects named GetGeek and I have no clue what project has the discount and no, you can't (what I can see) not find that out.
I went back to OVHcloud.com and I see some new nice AMD servers with a discount, sure sounds good.
Nice, I am getting a good price, let's do this!
Wait, what? What is this? I was asked about country when I signed up and I chose Sweden, or is it something else?
So, now I am stuck, no way for me to contact customer service now (It's late in Sweden) and the chat is under maintenance.
Unfortunatly this is where this story ends, now I am looking at other suppliers and other options, perhaps someone has a contact at OVHcloud?

4 个月Three years of work on the project went down the drain when OVH didn't charge properly, a debt of 197 PLN grew, and they deleted it without any phone contact... Communication only by email, maybe with a bit of luck you can get through to support. Of course, there are no backups because OVH does not protect the intellectual value of customers. SIC! I do not recommend the services of this company.

1 年I am facing an issue on ovh quota. I have created ovh account first time. Now I am stuck due to limitation of region quota. How would I increase ovh quota on region?

1 年Should have tried Vultr instead also support bgp for anycasting. or whatever you wanna announce. I use it for my dns infrastructure. Works very good and as1299 on most locations for transit.

1 年OVH are pretty Impressive, i think They have been doing the right things for years and it looks like the vision of being a European hyperscaler is coming together.
