I’m no stranger to keeping DJ industry secrets. But this might be the first where it’s my secret too.
You see, Allen & Heath and I have worked on something that coincides with a mutual and significant anniversary and plays to our respective strengths
Via the creation of skratchworx and DJWORX, I started my journey through the DJ industry 20 years ago, as did the magnificent Xone:92 mixer. And to celebrate, Allen & Heath has made a refined and updated limited edition (suitably 920 of them) Xone:92.
My part is a 12" print of the new mixer. It's the first thing you see when you open the box.
Yes, this is my first commission as an artist. And it’s a magical feeling.?
At first glance, it may look like a homage to the original, which it is. But some very cool updates make this more than just a paint job. You can find out everything over at the A&H website.
As I’m juggling the logistics of finishing 920 handmade prints in my tiny loft studio, making horn-blowing and back-patting glossy PR for this is somewhat less important than the task itself.?
Give me a few weeks and I’ll tell the story and give you insight into my process. But for now, it’s apron on, sharpie in hand, and making my first commission the best it can be.?
