My first CNC router machine design

Almost a year ago, my wife asked me to help her to buy a computer controlled machine to cut the handcrafts she use to make, the machine is called a CNC router. Deep looking at the internet I discovered that there was no such a machine for the price she was ready to pay, so I decided to project and build the router for my wife.

Here is a view of the original project, which had to be made from aluminum sheets.

I had some dificulties cutting the aluminum parts, so I dediced do completely redesign the machine.

In the new design there are no dust protection other than the one provided with the recirculating ball linear bearings and nut, anyway is more than the protection offered by almost every seller.

This kind of machine is nothing without the control electronics, so I had to design it, here is the schematic drawing of the control box.

What's next.

1. I have to complete the machine assembly, that include also a semi centralized lubrification system.

2. Then the electrical connections must be made on the machine, including micro switches to detect home and limit positions.

Conclusions: Not yet, lets see it on the ground.
