My first boot-camp month!
How a month goes by so fast! Such an interesting month. I could talk about the data structures, I could talk about the JavaScript methods, I could talk about the fascinating redux, the amazing front-end React, or the back-end Node-JS and expressful nature of the scripts. But I would like to mention my team. My all-girl team! Women tech-makers are such a breathe of fresh air. There is no pride behind their tech talk, there is no backtalk, there is such honesty behind their knowledge and learning process.
I do not feel left out when I do not understand because they simply help me understand without the condescension of making me know that it was easy and I should have understood in my first or second or even third try.It is an all female cohort, not that I am female, I was just lucky.
We have managed to make a ToDo app using concepts on React JS. It was quite the task to create such a simple app but its really not about the app. It is about the process,,well at least for now. You need a certain sense of calm when learning JavaScript. My first month in this boot-camp has enabled me to appreciate the importance of a team. You have to learn alone, but your team gives you more than the support that you need.
When beginning such a boot-camp, remember to appreciate the team you are with, you are not competing with them, try to be humble in learning or teaching people you are with in a boot-camp. Strap in soldier! It is going to get tough but your platoon is there for you. Be there for them!
