My First 90 Days: Getting things right is critical
Members & Partners -
It’s been an exciting and busy three months since beginning my role as GBC’s new president and CEO.?
I want to take a moment to update you on how I’ve spent this important time and share what you can expect from the GBC over the next few months. There’s a broad story of change and a once-in-a-generation opportunity that has defined this moment in Maryland and the Baltimore region.
The excitement is real.?
The GBC’s merger with the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore is part of this transformative era. Yet, getting things right is critical to ensure we set the GBC up to deliver the level of impact we envision and put the organization on par with the leading civic and economic groups in growth markets.
That said, establishing the right governance structure and recruiting top talent has been the highest priority.
At our upcoming membership meeting, GBC will name its new executive officers. Please join to vote on the candidates and hear from the staff about GBC’s priorities for the upcoming year.
Join us for upcoming stakeholder dinners.?This is a transitional year for GBC, but one that will set the organization’s path for the next generation. We want to hear from you as we dive-in to key topics in the region and surface the game-changing issues we can lead on.

Participate in our priority areas of impact.?The GBC’s work has been quite extensive, and we’ve had to pause the majority of the committee activity while we reconstitute the organization. At the same time, there are immediate areas we need your engagement: public safety, Baltimore’s Transit Future Campaign, and addressing the persistent issue of blight and vacancy in the city.
Lastly,?Register for our annual meeting (Wednesday, May 25th). The event will be a celebration with a focus on the GBC’s multi-year agenda to move the region forward. We’ll outline the goals we’ve set to advance our region and unveil our new membership model, designed to galvanize the private sector to ensure this region thrives.??
Three months in, and my enthusiasm and hope for the work we will do together continues to grow. I know we’ve only scratched the surface. Thank you for welcoming me to this community and for embracing the possibilities as we move the GBC and the Greater Baltimore region forward.
Sincerely,
Mark A.
So true Mark! Good to see you tonight. ????

2 年The level of inequality that has been normalized in Baltimore City for generations, at the cost of Black family quality of life and economic participation, is staggering and completely unacceptable. I’m certain it didn’t require 90-days to assess these facts. I look forward to learning more about your transformational plan to demonstrate authentic leadership that benefits all.
