My Final Newsletter!
Samuel Keir
Fiction editor and revision coach for LGBTQIA+ characters and authors | Queer romance, crime, and historical fiction | LGBTQ+ Editors Association membership coordinator | CIEP, Club Ed, and EFA member
Hi all,
As I streamline and make some business decisions based around moving away from social media, I've decided to wind down this newsletter and keep my attention on my Keir Editing and Writing Services newsletter.
I'm still keeping my LI account because I have lots of edibuddies, authors, and friends here, but it's time to FOCUS.
But don't fear! You can stay in touch and join this one by following this link: https://sjkeir.com/Contact-Sam/
You'll see something like the box below. Click all the buttons, and my monthly info. will come to you!
Lots going on this year, and if you plan to work with me or would like to keep up to date with queer publishing news, writing tips, and author information, please hop on over.
All 2025's giveaway information will be shared there too!
This is the first of my three giveaways in 2025. I’ll open entries on April 1, and the closing date will be May 17, which is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia.
I’ll choose a winner based on submitted blurbs and whichever project I believe I can add the most value to.
Prize: A full manuscript evaluation—a big-picture overview focused on many of the areas of a developmental edit, such as character arcs, plot points, and pacing. The feedback will include a chapter-by-chapter breakdown of strengths, weaknesses, and suggestions in an editorial letter.
Who am I? I’ve been editing queer romance, crime, and historical fiction for the past four years, and this year marks my twelfth working in high school and university English education. I volunteer as the membership coordinator for the LGBTQ+ Editors Association, and I’m always happy to chat about queer fiction.
Why am I doing this? After growing up under Section 28 in the UK, I am a huge advocate for queer fiction because I had zero access to it for so many years. The cost of editing is a barrier for some authors, so I like to provide these opportunities as a way to do my bit. Anyone is welcome to join—no questions asked.? I love working with authors to put their best books out into the world, whatever stage of their writing journey they are at.

Recently, I’ve worked with Nicky James, Jaclyn Osborn, Sam E. Kraemer, Bruce Bishop, and Kit Erikson, and I’d love to work with you too! My mission is to help more authors publish LGBTQIA+ positive books.
You’re more than welcome to join my mailing list, where I send out monthly news and views on queer publishing, author spotlights, and other fun stuff. It’s the best place to stay up to date on future giveaways (two more this year!).
You can join next to the Contact Sam form here: https://sjkeir.com/Contact-Sam/?
I’m open to all pairings, any heat levels, and all genres, but high fantasy and sci-fi are not my greatest strengths. Contemporary, crime, and historical romance are my true loves!?
Blurbs can be submitted to [email protected] from April 1. (Last entries: May 17.)? I’ll announce the winner here and in my newsletter.
Thanks for sticking with me, and I hope you keep in touch!
Bye for now!
Sam
