MY FELLOW GUESTS “BORING” JOHN AND “INTERESTING” DAVID
Will Kintish
I work with people who want to develop their networking skills, face-to-face and online so they become more confident, more effective and enjoy the activity. Result? More business and career opportunities
Over the last 2 weeks, I have been to 2 dinners. I sat next to John at one and David the other. So why the boring and the interesting?
Well with John I had to work very hard asking him lots of questions and wanting to be genuinely interested. It was fine up to the 5th question but when he asked me nothing about me, I was beginning to lose the will to live. In fact, I wanted to cry! I guess when he went home I hope he thought “What a great guy that Will was “
Now with David, it was the opposite. We had a wonderful time catching up (not seen him for 20+ years). We asked each other about our careers, our families, our interests. Ebb and flow and the time went so quickly.
Dale Carnegie said “The most interesting people we meet are those most interested in us”
This festive season is upon us. where we often meet ‘new’ people. Please ensure you’re ‘interesting David’ and not ‘boring John’.
Ask the first question, make the first move, take the first step. You’ll be very popular….I promise!

5 年I dread to think whether I am John or Dave? Mutual synergy, respect and interest is good, I have had meeting where I have been drilled with questions and I have had to work hard to turn it around and find out about them. 50/50 interest and being genuine is my ticket ??
