My Favourite Newsletters About Water
Ramón Rubio de Castro
Founder of The Water MBA. Helping water professionals grow and scale up while sharing everything I learn along the way.
As we close out 2024, winter begins in the Northern Hemisphere and summer in the Southern Hemisphere. For me, it’s also the start of the Christmas holidays over the next two weeks. This is the season for annual reports, year-end reviews, and reflecting on the past while preparing for an exciting 2025 in our business.
I wanted to share some valuable resources that have consistently provided me with insights during 2024 and will probably continue on 2025. Some have been part of my journey longer than others, but they’ve all made a significant impact. I also see The Water MBA as a gateway to discovering new resources and opportunities. It’s just a matter of knowing they exist, and we’re here to help with that.
With that in mind, here are my recommendations for any water professional who is curious and eager to stay informed in 2025. These are the sources that have worked best for me for various reasons:
1. (don't) Waste Water!
If you’re not familiar with Antoine Walter , it’s high time you got to know him. His "(Don't) Waste Water!" newsletter, published every Wednesday morning, with more than 60 articles and 3,500 loyal subscribers, is probably the global reference for staying updated on water tech business. His podcast of the same name is also a must-listen. Keep an eye out for his upcoming appearance on The Water MBA podcast in early 2025 — it’s guaranteed to be a must-watch!
2. Ingeniería y Agua (Spanish Version)
I first learned about the new European regulations through Manuel J. Gonzalez newsletter. It helped me research deeper and recognize the incredible opportunities awaiting water professionals in Europe in the coming years. He publishes weekly, delivering high-quality content. With his unique mix of academic and on-the-ground experience, his insights and structured approach are quite unique. Around 15 articles with more than 1,200 subscribers.
3. No Water No Nothing
If you want insights from a top-level perspective, Carlos Cosín is your reference. There is no actually a newsletter as itself, but the articles are published on timely manner, less frequent than others, but they are always packed with pure value.
"No Water, No Nothing" represents his views on the planet's most precious resource, raising awareness and inspiring action to ensure water availability for future generations, advocating for this critical cause.
4. Christos Charisiadis
There is no actually a newsletter as itself either, but meeting Christos Charisiadis recently was a pleasant surprise. His articles and thought-provoking questions are a hidden treasure. He’s also building Aqua Agitators on YouTube, which I’m confident will become a top-tier resource in the long run. I came to know words such as "ZLD" or "Brine Mining" around 3 years ago, when facing a project in Neom (Saudi Arabia). And I will keep researching in 2025 well supported by Christos.

5. Waterline
Delivered weekly via email by Bluefield Research , this newsletter offers simple, easy-to-digest updates on water intelligence, new podcast episodes (to be honest very focused on USA), and interesting headlines. Each email usually has at least one item that makes me pause and dig deeper. Every Wednesday in my inbox, ready to be read anytime when it suits me better, and help me being updated and keeping my "water market intelligence mindset" active.
Of course, these are just a few of the many great resources out there, and sorry for not sharing all, but if you’re just starting or aren’t familiar with these yet, they’re a fantastic place to begin.
Don’t forget to subscribe to our own weekly LinkedIn newsletter. It is not like the grand slam Top 5 as those above, but it may also contribute.
For those seeking even more details, stories and behind-the-scenes insights about The Water MBA , our exclusive email newsletter — with 120 members and growing — is the perfect next step.
2025 looks incredibly exciting, and we’re eager to keep welcoming water professionals into our growing community.
With Christmas around the corner, what better gift than an annual subscription to our platform? Gain access to all our past episodes and the upcoming ones designed to fuel your personal and professional growth.
Or, it’s the perfect time to include a membership in your company’s training plan—a neglectable investment for the company, but it could mean the world to you. Plus, it helps support and grow this initiative, ensuring we continue to bring valuable resources to water professionals everywhere.
I guarantee that by the end of 2025, you’ll be looking back at a transformative year!
Bluefield Research // The Future of Water Podcast
2 个月Ramón Rubio de Castro many thanks for the mention of Bluefield Research weekly newsletter and future of water podcast. It takes a village. I look forward to your activities at the The Water MBA in 2025.
?? Business Developer ??? Host of the "(don't) Waste Water" podcast ?? Rock Star (well... Pianist.)
2 个月While I would obviously thank you for the shoutout, Ramón Rubio de Castro, I have to personally acknowledge as well I had a blast recording with you, as I recognized my steps in yours (and vice versa), and... it's a great feeling to feel less alone! ?? We all regularly discuss the speed of adoption, change and evolution in the water sector, yet I believe we overlook a key reason for that: ignorance. (and I use the word with all kindness - I am myself still blatantly ignorant on so many aspects of the water riddle) Making continuous learning the norm is a step we have to take in this sector, and not by making it mandatory, but by showing everyone the benefits of doing so. I mean, if you don't want to learn anything new every day, then "it's just a job." If you're genuinely curious about what's on the other side of every hill, then it's an adventure! Let's all go an adventure together ??

2 个月Thanks for the mention, and especially for putting my newsletter in your top list. It is a real honor to have my name appear next to others like Antoine Walter, Carlos Cosín, Christos Charisiadis or Bluefield Research. In 2024 my newsletter was born as a way to expose and share what I was already doing privately. Technical aspects in the field of water, from purification, sanitation, desalination and aspects related to irrigated agriculture, planning, regeneration, have always interested me. Analyzing the regulatory changes in Europe and how they are transposed into Spanish legislation, and above all, how we take these legal aspects, the day to day of the present and future facilities. I always try to give it that academic and didactic aspect that, as you say, I think gives added value.? 2025 will be a very interesting year in Spain with the implementation of the Reuse Regulation or the elaboration of the Integral Sanitation Plans, a lot of work ahead in the design and subsequent execution, of which we will be informing all subscribers. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your The Water MBA family the best of success for 2025.
