My favorite TV and Cinema from 2022
I have always been very picky of the stuff I watch on TV and Cinema. When I lived in India, Singapore, and New Zealand - it felt like I had access to a lot more interesting movies and TV shows to watch. Watched a lot more international movies back then - from all over the world.
American TV for the most part felt (and still feels) mediocre and basic to me - the tropes are repeated and blockbusters feed on people's fears or even need for violence. There is an over reliance on abstract and exaggerated fear and violence as motifs.
And then, there are the superhero movies. Every second movie or TV show seems to be one.
I like a good superhero movie now and again, but OMG, like how many variations of Batman or Spiderman could one possibly make? Among the infinite stories and opportunities available, Hollywood continues to use the same cliched storylines. It's not that Hollywood doesn't have access to the multitude of stories, it's that they don't have the courage to bring those stories to light.
Long story short, I decided to expand my horizon to try and push myself to watch new shows and movies - while still being intentional as to what I picked. I had to watch a lot of awful TV shows and movies to find the ones I liked.
The ones below are some of the most memorable ones - and in most cases, I was left wanting for more. These were teaming with wonder, hope and joy.

The couple below are a delight to watch and/or well made:
I watched Lovecraft Country the year before (I think) and I really crave for more shows like that too. That show was cathartic.

There were many others that I watched, but mostly watched them because there wasn't anything better and of course, I've left them out of here.
