My Favorite Travel Apps

Anyone who travels a lot knows that it is often a luxury to be sitting at a desk with computer, mouse, and full keyboard. Emails and reports are usually being checked from a mobile device, and anything that doesn't fit in a carry-on gets left behind!
There are plenty of apps out there to help to condense your workload and eliminate the 'catch up' that takes place once you're back at your office. I am an app junkie and will try anything once, but here are my favorite mobile apps that keep me organized and sane when on the road:
- TripIt - I almost want to list this one twice. I book my travel and then send my confirmations via email to [email protected] which then creates a full itinerary for my trip. It also sends notifications to me when I have gate changes or short connection times stores the check-in time and location of the hotel I'm headed to once I land. (Pro Tip: this also prevents me from missing the check-in time for southwest flights so I'm never on the C-list!)
- Concur - folders of receipts are a thing of the past for me. I scan every receipt as I get them and upload to the Concur App so that when my charges are posted to my credit card I can instantly attach the receipt and create my expense report as I go. This is especially helpful for companies that send you electronic receipts instead (Pro Tip: Link your Uber account to Concur and they automatically forward each receipt to Concur)
- CamCard - exchanging business cards is so important, but when you're trying to travel light it can be difficult to take home a stack of cards of various shapes and sizes. CamCard lets you scan the card (and verify the information is correct) before saving the contact information into your contacts. It saves the card image as well in case you wrote any notes on the card itself.
- LinkedIn - when I am about to step into a meeting or a tradeshow floor, it's always helpful to have one last reminder of who you are meeting and what they look like. It eliminates the confusion of going up to strangers or seeming unprepared. Plus, the mobile app has the great search and messaging features that you're accustomed to in the web version. (Pro Tip: sync your contacts with the app to find new connections that you haven't linked to on the website yet).
- DropBox - technology can be great but also comes with its own set of challenges. I love that dropbox has such HUGE storage because I can save my presentations there in case I show up to do a presentation and the audiovisual cables don't support the laptop or tablet I have, or if my device runs out of juice. Plus, it's easy to share that file with someone else and not have to worry about their spam filters or inbox size getting in the way.
I am always looking for new to ways to declutter my life - what apps or tools do you use to help you on the road?
