My favorite job!!

Is it right that the job I am currently holding is not my favorite job? I am just doing it for the sake of doing it and as long as my financial needs are taken care of,.I am fine. Am I the superior performer or just a mediocre?
So many times, this questions pops up in my mind but then my comfort zone and complacency rules over it. After a great struggle , I am in this space of comfort zone and now challenging it will deplete all my energy, pain of "starting all over again" will engulf me and my energy. Rather, I am scared, again convincing peers, seniors, team about my talent, experience and wisdom...no "not again".
These thoughts and feeling surface due to some fear deep rooted inside me. They say that you must plan or strategize your career but according to me it is never strategized. No point planning for it that " 5 years from now, I will be doing this or that". Instead try to make correct choices all the time. Choices one makes determines the future of one's career. Most of the time, one must listen to "inner voice" before making a choice. As they say, you must "own" your choices, similarly, career choices are to be owned by oneself.
Now coming back to the main dilemma, "is it my favorite job". Look inside and introspect how much ownership you take for this situation. The same question has been beautifully answered in a movie - Tamasha. The main protagonist realizes that by not owning his career choice decision, he has become a robot and highly mechanized. Good sense prevailed and he had taken a corrective measure before dying being "mediocre".
During my mentoring assignments where I mentor post graduate students - same question haunts these student and they look for answers from their mentors which I believe is a wrong approach. Another reason for this ambiguity comes to my mind is " is there too many options" available these days as compared to 90's. Too many options also confuse you instead of giving you a clear direction.
I can go on and on but let me close this by saying, "nothing can guide you better than your inner voice", what if your decision is wrong then atleast you do not end up pointing fingers for it's failure to somebody else and finally you "own" your choice or decision.
