My favorite job is that of a parent
This is my son Quintin and today is his 20th birthday.
I always say that I learned far more from raising Quintin than I could have possibly taught him and it’s true.
Before I gave birth to this little cutie, I did not understand or relate well to children. I actually used to say I didn’t like children! Gross, I know! But from day 1, I quickly learned how magical and wonderful children are. Now I find beauty in every single child I encounter and I truly feel that children are the best part of humanity.
Despite growing up on a farm, I used to hate nature & animals. Awful, I know! But, through loving, respecting and appreciating children, I learned how magnificent nature, animals and even the sky and moon are. I now spend time appreciating a single flower, a little ant or a buzzing bee.
I have always been a very fearful person! Afraid of the dark, afraid of ghosts, afraid of animals, afraid of leaving the corporate world and so on. At 17 years of age, Quintin enlisted in the Navy, graduated high school early and left home for boot camp after just turning 18. Through his actions, Quintin taught me to stop being so afraid, do things, try things. And so I quit my corporate job and started my own business. I’m still doing my thing over 1.5 years later and have never been happier in my life.
Enjoy your roaring 20’s in the roaring 20’s my son. Your birth and your life are THE BEST thing that ever happened to me. I loved every minute of raising you and I believe I would be such a dolt were it not for you.

5 年Grace, the same dilemma you are having also occurs when you are faced with a life-threatening "incurable" disease, as your mother was. It's okay to have moments of self-pity or grief, but we can't get stuck in them. I applaud you for recognizing that and if anything, allow it to be a reminder of how precious life is and what a blessing it is to wake up and function. Be filled with gratitude and share it with everyone you cross paths with.?
