My fave things about Christmas 2020
Christmas is definitely a little different this year, but there are still so many things that make Christmas the best time of the year! So here is the lowdown of my favourite things about Christmas:
The Zoom Christmas party
This year we have all got very familiar with people’s living rooms/ bedrooms and studies and with the current state of the country, the traditional Christmas party has faded from existence. The Zoom Christmas party is definitely taking pride of place this year. Cue the fancy dress, Christmas gift deliveries from the office and the Christmas quiz!! The Zoom Christmas Party is the ideal scenario for many who have a tendency to drink too much and make a fool of themselves in front of the rest of their colleagues. There is no peer pressure to take shots, no dad dancing from your boss, and you avoid the awkward heart to heart with the drunk office secretary...everyone is on to a winner!
Dressing up their pets
I love a funny dog video, but nothing makes me happier than seeing your dog dressed up for Christmas. Santa Paws will never get old. Your cat dressed up as a penguin? Winner! For the most part, your pets are wholly unimpressed by their new outfits, but nothing spreads joy like seeing a dog dressed up as a reindeer and desperately fighting to remove it from his own body
Day Drinking
The pandemic has given a lot of people good reason to day drink. However, never is it more socially acceptable to drink before 9am than it is on Christmas day. Bucks Fizz with Breakfast? Absolutely. Prosecco while cooking Christmas Dinner? It would be rude not to! Baileys before bed? I thought you would never ask!!! This tactic does however come with a warning. You may be likely to burn the turkey, throw up on the buffet, or offend Aunt Karen by giving her your unwanted opinion on the quality of her gift giving.
Naps
There is just something about the Christmas Food, the bubbly and the tearing open of Christmas presents that just takes a toll on you. This doesn’t just apply to Christmas Day. There is a timeframe of approximately 5 days between Christmas and New Year where it becomes perfectly normal to nap, be that morning, afternoon or evening. There is something very satisfying about curling up on the sofa for a snooze while the TV plays aimlessly in the background.
What are your favourite things about the festive period?
