My fascination with Knowledge Graphs and the Resource Description Framework

25 Feb 2025

Preamble

This article was the result of my reading a LinkedIn post by Adrian Gschwend.

As an Information Architect I am always fascinated by the claims made by theorists about a subject that no one really understands.

In order to explain why the theories regarding the Knowledge Graph and the Resource Description Framework will lead to “a failure to communicate” (a quote from the movie Cool Hand Luke) I had to use Microsoft Copilot AI engine to answer these 8 questions in order to arrive at my Conclusion:

  1. Explain Murphy’s Law
  2. What is a knowledge graph and who developed the theory?
  3. How do knowledge graphs differ from traditional databases?
  4. What is the Resource Description Framework and who developed the theory?
  5. What is the relationship between the Knowledge Model and the Resource Description Framework?
  6. What is Data who developed the theory about data and when was this theory explained?
  7. What is relationship between the Knowledge Graph and Business Requirements?
  8. What is relationship between the Resource Description Framework and Business Requirements?

Conclusion

Linking Knowledge Graphs to the Resource Description Framework is problematic simply because of the gap of understanding both theories. In addition Knowledge Graphs need to support the Business Requirements but has no means of accomplishing this task.

As my article is 12 pages long and contains all my research please follow this link to read the full dissertation.
