My Fall Internship Experience

I am thrilled to share my internship experience at Dana Incorporated which extended from the Summer to the Fall 23 Semester. This extension proved to be a valuable opportunity, enabling me to not only advance the initial summer project but also take on additional responsibilities contributing towards our team's long-term objective of portfolio rationalization.

During this semester, I continued to enhance the PowerBI dashboard initiated over the summer. One significant addition was leveraging PowerBI's built-in forecasting feature on License Usage and Activity data. Additionally, we were able to upgrade our workspace to premium capacity and publish this enhanced dashboard. This transformation turned the dashboard into a robust tool, empowering stakeholders to make strategic decisions, particularly in streamlining engineering applications.

Beyond this dashboard work, I had the opportunity to contribute to portfolio rationalization activities. I worked extensively on datasets containing detailed application information across the company's systems. Preprocessing this data and standardizing crucial application details were key for rationalization. Collaborating with over 50 engineers across 4 domains and 4 regions globally, our focus was on improving cost efficiency by standardizing information with respect to application capabilities, future disposition, contract renewals, and more. In this process, I was also able to identify some locally maintained previously unidentified and work with the enterprise architects to add them to our portfolio.

Transitioning back to full-time classes, I was fortunate to continue my internship remotely during the Fall. This setup allowed me to prioritize my studies while contributing effectively to my project. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Sean Morris and Mandar Parasnis for their support, offering flexibility in my schedule and providing guidance whenever needed.

This internship has been transformative, allowing me to apply academic knowledge in a practical setting while honing vital skills in time management and communication. I am confident that the experiences and skills gained during this internship will form a robust foundation for my future career.
