My Fall 2019 Internship Experience at ParkHub

Founded in 2010, ParkHub is a Dallas based Startup started by George Baker Sr. ParkHub provides software and hardware services for the parking industry. The products offer multiple payment options, real-time reporting of parking revenue, support for dynamic pricing, and insight into inventory availability and control. ParkHub’s technology seamlessly integrates with some of the nation’s renowned parking and ticketing solutions.

I joined the company in Fall 2019 as a Data Analyst Intern, I am part of the Operations team. From the first week, I have seen everyone on the team working so hard by putting their heart, soul, blood, and sweat into the company and making it better every day. Operations Team is responsible for the day to day operations of our clients. We handle customers through each step, including sales, onboarding, and ongoing support. We are the first point of contact for our 175+ clients and locations throughout the US.

I am a strong believer in “Uncertainty sparks Innovation”, as an intern at ParkHub all my projects are uncertain and in the process, to find the solution I got to learn a lot by implementing various methods, tools and approaches to find the best solution. That’s the best part about startups where we learn things that is just more than experience and can be cherished lifelong. It's not a regular thing where an intern gets the opportunity of working directly under the COO of the company and have weekly lunch with the CEO and other people who are the greatest asset of the company and I'm thankful as I get that opportunity every day!

Working with my mentor Hong, Data & Integration Analyst Lead at ParkHub, has played a significant role in making my Fall internship so much fun. I value the thought process and strategies we have where I gain understandings on his approach of attempting to solve problems. As a Data Analyst Intern, I have had the opportunity of working on multiple projects and tools for solving real-world problems. I was involved in a couple of projects where I was responsible for creating an internal dashboard using Python-Tableau-PostgreSQL for the operations team to see the issues faced by our clients, building a performance-based ranking algorithm using R-Excel-PostgreSQL of the clients in United States, forecasting models using machine learning algorithms and automating a manual process of audit report to reduce Client success manager workload and improve client experience. As a part of my academic curriculum, I took Business Analytics with R under Prof. Jason that helped me to understand the business aspect of the data, Data Visualization by Prof. Judd Bradbury provided a good understanding of data analysis and data visualization, Econometrics & Time Series Analysis by Prof. Moran which helped me build a strong foundation into time-series and predictive modeling. These subjects backed me with the conceptual understanding and the knowledge to do my projects at my internship.

I would like to mention a few important names and thank the individuals who made this internship a successful one. Thanks, Jake Edsell for giving me this opportunity and providing a life-changing experience. Thanks to my mentor Hong for guiding and giving a chance to improve my skills and opportunity to work towards my passion. Thanks, George Baker Sr. for creating this organization.

To conclude, I would like to thank my Program Director Prof. Mark Thouin, Program Manager Prof. Gaurav Shekar and Career Management Center for their tremendous support at the Jindal School of Management, UT Dallas. I would like to thank my mentors, peers and friends who stood by me and believed that I could achieve my goals.
