My ‘FAITH’ comes to work with me…

Some people believe that they have to put their ‘faith’ in their back pocket when they come to work. Not me, there is no way I could do that! I cannot disconnect what I believe in for 8-12 hours daily. My faith is expressed in my actions at work.
There are ten qualities that were exemplified by my Savior that has served me well in the workplace.
1. Faith is to hope for and act on things which are not seen. As I coach an employee through a performance situation, it is my faith that allows me to believe that they will take that coaching and apply it as needed.
2. Obedience is a choice to trust my Savior more than I trust myself. Trust gained from my employees is built on my reputation. My reputation is gained as good choices are made by me on a consistent basis in the workplace.
3. Prayerful-My prayerful life keeps me calm and balanced when my current environment is spinning around me.
4. Wise –We can all benefit from studying up on information as we are dealing with various situations. I do.
5. Virtuous-It is good to turn away from things that can pollute the mind. As I help employees through the challenges of balancing work life and personal issues it is helpful for my mind to be focused and clutter-free.
6. Patient-You cannot work with people and lack patience. One extensive employee relations investigation in HR will make you want to quit your job if you do not have this characteristic.
7. Charitable-Acts of kindness serve me well in the workplace. You get from others what you put into them through your interactions.
8. Giving-I have never uttered the words, ‘that’s not my job’. If someone needs help and I have the time and knowledge, I help.
9. Forgiving- unforgiveness keeps a person in bondage. We all make mistakes. Sometimes we do things intentional that just is not right. I believe in forgiveness, retraining, and rehabilitation. I am not sure I could work in human resources if I did not.
10. Humbleness-I listen when employees talk. I rarely act based on assumptions. My coaching and recommendations are based on facts. I do not know everything.
What about people who serve different Saviors, you ask? What about them? , I love them! What about people who do not believe in anyone OR anything, you ask? I love them! People do not have to believe what I believe for me to love them. What a boring world it would be if we were all alike!
