Having an amazing time at RSA 2019. Lots of new learning, meeting new people and also bumping into friends and former teammates. I am sharing a few of my experiences followed by thoughts on my mind.
As in past the there is representations from myriads of companies providing solutions of for as many typed of threats on customer organizations via equally diverse technological means. The mix includes established industry veterans to mid size up and coming to ambitious start up. The week would not be enough if you decide to listen to value proposition from each and every vendor. Keeping those sales pitches straight in one's mind seems insurmountable. But it was enlightening to hear the good and bad of using machine learning/AI for securing digital assets.
In terms of my thoughts, I could appreciate challenges from customer's perspective -
* How is a manager/executive responsible for securing the digital assets of her/his organization to establish the optimal way to leverage these solutions?
* How would that individual be able to identify the right combination of solutions to cover end to end security needs? No one vendor could fulfill the complete need as far as I could gather.
And at a macro level, the vast number of vendors in the space begs the question of what's to come in terms of consolidation, standardization and creation of common framework.
All in all an educational experience and in that vain I am happy to receive additional pointers to expand my own understanding on questions posed above.
