My experience at PES University library ,Bangalore

Being an information science enthusiast, I would like to visit libraries during my institution's visit. Some of the libraries leave strong memories through its infrastructure and rare designing capabilities.

?Few days back I visited one such library at Bangalore PES University. The librarian is my friend, and he took a brief tour of the new facilities existing in the library space. Seeing the Designing marvels from rooftop to chairs and tables expressed myself WoW. The entire library's catching point is effective?utilization of space and creative ways to provide the facilities of a conference room, a dedicated cafeteria for staff and a user community. The main entrance reading ceiling is 20 feet high with a white color to soothe readers and the reading area is superbly arranged with the latest tables and cushion chairs. Took me to one dedicated reading room, where all the tables were mounted with lighting and switch boards to ensure their laptops and other gadgets would connect.?In that reading room, an upper sitting area wall mounted with a bust of great inspiring personalities ranges from Gandhiji to APJ Kalam etc. Certainly it will impact students, each time seeing the bust.

In the cafeteria area, one dedicated Almira exists with multilingual books (Kannada and English) ranging from a variety of subjects. My curious query told me that it was kept for take and leave books services, which means any user can take his or her choice of book and return their wish book . For that access, there is no need to enter or any procedures. It's purely promoting book reading culture, I presume.

?In the main reading area, they have kept some tables and chairs of Japanese style lower seating, seeing that I was thrilled about it and Explained designed it to use available space effectively. In the outside reading hall, they have separate high Hight chairs and tables, which will help the civil and architecture students. The entire floor is designed in such a way that students can’t feel confined inside the library; they are free to eat, read, listen, and comfortably study.

?I have been reminded that during my study time, Prof. gave the example of western libraries with modern facilities, after seeing these library facilities, I said to myself, "Wow, Indian institutes' mindset has changed with respect to library and information centres when it comes to new infrastructure and architecture. My heartfelt thanks to Dr. Subhash Reddy B. Any academic librarian who wants to visit, please speak to him. He will certainly take you through.
