No doubt the future of distribution is set to be significantly influenced by #Fintech and it is noteworthy that most, if not all players in the FMCG? space have digitized or are in the phase of digitizing their collection and payment processes.?
As a finance personnel deeply immersed in the banking and financing of players in the beverage sector including their entire value chain, attending Nigeria Fintech Week 2024 edition was important as it afforded me an incredible opportunity to network, and gain more insight into the future of fintech and enabling/customizable innovative solutions.?
This year’s event was particularly vibrant, bringing together industry leaders, founders, innovators, and enthusiasts from across the continent and beyond.
Per usual my key highlights and insight for me goes thus:
Networking and Collaboration
One of the highlights of #NFW24 was the chance to connect with several thought leaders, like-minded professionals and pioneers in the fintech space… such as Ashley Immanuel co-founder of Semicolon . From engaging discussions with startup founders to informative panels featuring seasoned experts, the environment was ripe for collaboration. I exchanged ideas and explored potential partnerships that could enhance offerings and drive innovation.
Insightful Panel Discussion and Masterclass
The event featured a variety of panels that delved into pressing topics, including “Dealing with Fraud and Cyber-Attacks; Barriers to an Expanding Digital Economy”, “Prioritizing Profitability and Cash Flow in African Fintech Startups”, “ Remote Work and Hybrid Models:Adapting Talent Management in the African Context” digital banking, blockchain technology, and regulatory challenges. Each session was packed with insights that not only broadened my understanding but also sparked ideas for implementing best practices in my work. The emphasis on the importance of compliance and security in fintech resonated with me, reminding me of the vital role we play in protecting our customers.
Showcasing Innovation
I was particularly inspired by the showcase of emerging technologies and startups. Seeing the innovative products and solutions presented by startups such as SoftPAYNG and ARCA Payments Company LTD. was a testament to the dynamism of the Nigerian fintech ecosystem. From payment and collection solutions to lending platforms, the creativity and ambition of these startups underscore the potential for financial inclusion and economic growth in Nigeria and beyond.
Engaging with Thought Leaders
Listening to thought leaders in the fintech space such as Niyi Toluwalope, MD/CEO of eTransact , was another highlight as their perspectives on the future and growth of Fintech, emphasizing on the importance of deepening existing efforts and technology trends in the ecosystem, provided valuable foresight. I left the sessions not only motivated but also equipped with knowledge to share with my team, customers and stay ahead of industry trends.

I would not end this my epistle without appreciating my brilliant colleague Joy Debbie , who dragged me out of my tight schedule and ensured I participated this year's edition of #NFW24.
