My Experience with NFP, an Aon company

At NFP, the principle of "people first" is more than just a slogan—it's a core value that shapes how the company operates. Before I joined, I was eager to see how a company could genuinely prioritize its people over other responsibilities and targets. Now, as I approach the final week of my Business Development Internship in San Francisco, I can see how NFP truly embodies this ambitious promise.

The selection process at NFP plays a crucial role in maintaining a supportive and caring work environment. It's evident that the company places a high value on investing in its people and understands that strong, meaningful relationships are essential for achieving great results.

During my internship, I've worked on several engaging projects. I took on a LifeScience analyst role where I gathered and analyzed data on 50 of the largest pharmaceutical companies, each with a market cap of around $4 billion. This task required meticulous attention to detail and provided valuable insights into the industry. Additionally, I participated in a team-based prospecting initiative that involved connecting with over 500 C-suite executives across various sectors. This experience provided creative opportunities for maximizing personalization efforts all while engaging in mass-outreach tactics.

The most rewarding part of my internship, however, was the opportunity to learn from my mentor, Scott Foster . Observing how experienced professionals navigate complex situations and communicate effectively has been incredibly valuable. Through attending team meetings, client lunches, and participating in intern exchanges with other brokerages, I gained a broad and practical perspective on the industry. These experiences were made possible by NFP’s commitment to mentorship and its thoughtful approach to hiring, which truly brings the "people first" philosophy to life.

The mentorship program was particularly impactful. It provided me with direct guidance and feedback, helping me to develop not only technical skills but also a deeper understanding of relationship-building in a professional setting.
